1A man who hardens [his] neck after much reproof Will suddenly be broken beyond remedy.
1人屢次受責罰,仍然硬著頸項;他必頃刻敗壞,無法可治。
2When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, But when a wicked man rules, people groan.
2義人增多,民就喜樂;惡人掌權,民就歎息。
3A man who loves wisdom makes his father glad, But he who keeps company with harlots wastes [his] wealth.
3愛慕智慧的,使父親喜樂;與妓女結交的,卻浪費錢財。
4The king gives stability to the land by justice, But a man who takes bribes overthrows it.
4王藉公平,使國堅定;索要賄賂,使國傾敗。
5A man who flatters his neighbor Is spreading a net for his steps.
5諂媚鄰舍的,就是設網羅絆他的腳。
6By transgression an evil man is ensnared, But the righteous sings and rejoices.
6惡人犯罪,自陷網羅;惟獨義人歡呼喜樂。
7The righteous is concerned for the rights of the poor, The wicked does not understand [such] concern.
7義人知道查明窮人的案;惡人沒有聰明,就不得而知。
8Scorners set a city aflame, But wise men turn away anger.
8褻慢人煽惑通城;智慧人止息眾怒。
9When a wise man has a controversy with a foolish man, The foolish man either rages or laughs, and there is no rest.
9智慧人與愚妄人相爭,或怒或笑,總不能使他止息。
10Men of bloodshed hate the blameless, But the upright are concerned for his life.
10好流人血的,恨惡完全人,索取正直人的性命。
11A fool always loses his temper, But a wise man holds it back.
11愚妄人怒氣全發;智慧人忍氣含怒。
12If a ruler pays attention to falsehood, All his ministers [become] wicked.
12君王若聽謊言,他一切臣僕都是奸惡。
13The poor man and the oppressor have this in common: The LORD gives light to the eyes of both.
13貧窮人、強暴人在世相遇;他們的眼目都蒙耶和華光照。
14If a king judges the poor with truth, His throne will be established forever.
14君王憑誠實判斷窮人;他的國位必永遠堅立。
15The rod and reproof give wisdom, But a child who gets his own way brings shame to his mother.
15杖打和責備能加增智慧;放縱的兒子使母親羞愧。
16When the wicked increase, transgression increases; But the righteous will see their fall.
16惡人加多,過犯也加多,義人必看見他們跌倒。
17Correct your son, and he will give you comfort; He will also delight your soul.
17管教你的兒子,他就使你得安息,也必使你心裡喜樂。
18Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained, But happy is he who keeps the law.
18沒有異象(或譯:默示),民就放肆;惟遵守律法的,便為有福。
19A slave will not be instructed by words [alone]; For though he understands, there will be no response.
19只用言語,僕人不肯受管教;他雖然明白,也不留意。
20Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
20你見言語急躁的人嗎?愚昧人比他更有指望。
21He who pampers his slave from childhood Will in the end find him to be a son.
21人將僕人從小嬌養,這僕人終久必成了他的兒子。
22An angry man stirs up strife, And a hot-tempered man abounds in transgression.
22好氣的人挑啟爭端;暴怒的人多多犯罪。
23A man's pride will bring him low, But a humble spirit will obtain honor.
23人的高傲必使他卑下;心裡謙遜的,必得尊榮。
24He who is a partner with a thief hates his own life; He hears the oath but tells nothing.
24人與盜賊分贓,是恨惡自己的性命;他聽見叫人發誓的聲音,卻不言語。
25The fear of man brings a snare, But he who trusts in the LORD will be exalted.
25懼怕人的,陷入網羅;惟有倚靠耶和華的,必得安穩。
26Many seek the ruler's favor, But justice for man [comes] from the LORD.
26求王恩的人多;定人事乃在耶和華。
27An unjust man is abominable to the righteous, And he who is upright in the way is abominable to the wicked.
27為非作歹的,被義人憎嫌;行事正直的,被惡人憎惡。
