1Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth.
1不要為明日自誇,因為一日要生何事,你尚且不能知道。
2Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; A stranger, and not your own lips.

3A stone is heavy and the sand weighty, But the provocation of a fool is heavier than both of them.

4Wrath is fierce and anger is a flood, But who can stand before jealousy?
4忿怒為殘忍,怒氣為狂瀾,惟有嫉妒,誰能敵得住呢?

10Do not forsake your own friend or your father's friend, And do not go to your brother's house in the day of your calamity; Better is a neighbor who is near than a brother far away.

11Be wise, my son, and make my heart glad, That I may reply to him who reproaches me.

12A prudent man sees evil [and] hides himself, The naive proceed [and] pay the penalty.
12通達人見禍藏躲;愚蒙人前往受害。
13Take his garment when he becomes surety for a stranger; And for an adulterous woman hold him in pledge.
13誰為生人作保,就拿誰的衣服;誰為外女作保,誰就承當。
14He who blesses his friend with a loud voice early in the morning, It will be reckoned a curse to him.
14清晨起來,大聲給朋友祝福的,就算是咒詛他。
15A constant dripping on a day of steady rain And a contentious woman are alike;
15大雨之日連連滴漏,和爭吵的婦人一樣;
16He who would restrain her restrains the wind, And grasps oil with his right hand.
16想攔阻他的,便是攔阻風,也是右手抓油。
17Iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens another.
17鐵磨鐵,磨出刃來;朋友相感(原文是磨朋友的臉)也是如此。
18He who tends the fig tree will eat its fruit, And he who cares for his master will be honored.
18看守無花果樹的,必吃樹上的果子;敬奉主人的,必得尊榮。
19As in water face [reflects] face, So the heart of man [reflects] man.

22Though you pound a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with crushed grain, [Yet] his foolishness will not depart from him.
22你雖用杵將愚妄人與打碎的麥子一同搗在臼中,他的愚妄還是離不了他。
23Know well the condition of your flocks, [And] pay attention to your herds;
23你要詳細知道你羊群的景況,留心料理你的牛群;
24For riches are not forever, Nor does a crown [endure] to all generations.
24因為資財不能永有,冠冕豈能存到萬代?
25[When] the grass disappears, the new growth is seen, And the herbs of the mountains are gathered in,
25乾草割去,嫩草發現,山上的菜蔬也被收斂。
26The lambs [will be] for your clothing, And the goats [will bring] the price of a field,
26羊羔之毛是為你作衣服;山羊是為作田地的價值,
27And [there will be] goats' milk enough for your food, For the food of your household, And sustenance for your maidens.
27並有母山羊奶夠你吃,也夠你的家眷吃,且夠養你的婢女。
