1The plans of the heart belong to man, But the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.
1心中的謀算在乎人;舌頭的應對由於耶和華。
2All the ways of a man are clean in his own sight, But the LORD weighs the motives.
2人一切所行的,在自己眼中看為清潔;惟有耶和華衡量人心。
3Commit your works to the LORD And your plans will be established.
3你所做的,要交託耶和華,你所謀的,就必成立。
4The LORD has made everything for its own purpose, Even the wicked for the day of evil.
4耶和華所造的,各適其用;就是惡人也為禍患的日子所造。
5Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; Assuredly, he will not be unpunished.
5凡心裡驕傲的,為耶和華所憎惡;雖然連手,他必不免受罰。
6By lovingkindness and truth iniquity is atoned for, And by the fear of the LORD one keeps away from evil.
6因憐憫誠實,罪孽得贖;敬畏耶和華的,遠離惡事。
7When a man's ways are pleasing to the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
7人所行的,若蒙耶和華喜悅,耶和華也使他的仇敵與他和好。
8Better is a little with righteousness Than great income with injustice.
8多有財利,行事不義,不如少有財利,行事公義。
9The mind of man plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.
9人心籌算自己的道路;惟耶和華指引他的腳步。
10A divine decision is in the lips of the king; His mouth should not err in judgment.
10王的嘴中有神語,審判之時,他的口必不差錯。
11A just balance and scales belong to the LORD; All the weights of the bag are His concern.
11公道的天平和秤都屬耶和華;囊中一切法碼都為他所定。
12It is an abomination for kings to commit wicked acts, For a throne is established on righteousness.
12作惡,為王所憎惡,因國位是靠公義堅立。
13Righteous lips are the delight of kings, And he who speaks right is loved.
13公義的嘴為王所喜悅;說正直話的,為王所喜愛。
14The fury of a king is [like] messengers of death, But a wise man will appease it.
14王的震怒如殺人的使者;但智慧人能止息王怒。
15In the light of a king's face is life, And his favor is like a cloud with the spring rain.
15王的臉光使人有生命;王的恩典好像春雲時雨。
16How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen above silver.
16得智慧勝似得金子;選聰明強如選銀子。
17The highway of the upright is to depart from evil; He who watches his way preserves his life.
17正直人的道是遠離惡事;謹守己路的,是保全性命。
18Pride [goes] before destruction, And a haughty spirit before stumbling.
18驕傲在敗壞以先;狂心在跌倒之前。
19It is better to be humble in spirit with the lowly Than to divide the spoil with the proud.
19心裡謙卑與窮乏人來往,強如將擄物與驕傲人同分。
20He who gives attention to the word will find good, And blessed is he who trusts in the LORD.
20謹守訓言的,必得好處;倚靠耶和華的,便為有福。
21The wise in heart will be called understanding, And sweetness of speech increases persuasiveness.
21心中有智慧,必稱為通達人;嘴中的甜言,加增人的學問。
22Understanding is a fountain of life to one who has it, But the discipline of fools is folly.
22人有智慧就有生命的泉源;愚昧人必被愚昧懲治。
23The heart of the wise instructs his mouth And adds persuasiveness to his lips.
23智慧人的心教訓他的口,又使他的嘴增長學問。
24Pleasant words are a honeycomb, Sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
24良言如同蜂房,使心覺甘甜,使骨得醫治。
25There is a way [which seems] right to a man, But its end is the way of death.
25有一條路,人以為正,至終成為死亡之路。
26A worker's appetite works for him, For his hunger urges him [on].
26勞力人的胃口使他勞力,因為他的口腹催逼他。
27A worthless man digs up evil, While his words are like scorching fire.
27匪徒圖謀奸惡,嘴上彷彿有燒焦的火。
28A perverse man spreads strife, And a slanderer separates intimate friends.
28乖僻人播散紛爭;傳舌的,離間密友。
29A man of violence entices his neighbor And leads him in a way that is not good.
29強暴人誘惑鄰舍,領他走不善之道。
30He who winks his eyes [does so] to devise perverse things; He who compresses his lips brings evil to pass.
30眼目緊合的,圖謀乖僻;嘴唇緊閉的,成就邪惡。
31A gray head is a crown of glory; It is found in the way of righteousness.
31白髮是榮耀的冠冕,在公義的道上必能得著。
32He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, And he who rules his spirit, than he who captures a city.
32不輕易發怒的,勝過勇士;治服己心的,強如取城。
33The lot is cast into the lap, But its every decision is from the LORD.
33籤放在懷裡,定事由耶和華。
