1The wise woman builds her house, But the foolish tears it down with her own hands.
1智慧婦人建立家室;愚妄婦人親手拆毀。
2He who walks in his uprightness fears the LORD, But he who is devious in his ways despises Him.
2行動正直的,敬畏耶和華;行事乖僻的,卻藐視他。
3In the mouth of the foolish is a rod for [his] back, But the lips of the wise will protect them.
3愚妄人口中驕傲,如杖責打己身;智慧人的嘴必保守自己。
4Where no oxen are, the manger is clean, But much revenue [comes] by the strength of the ox.
4家裡無牛,槽頭乾淨;土產加多乃憑牛力。
5A trustworthy witness will not lie, But a false witness utters lies.
5誠實見證人不說謊話;假見證人吐出謊言。
6A scoffer seeks wisdom and [finds] none, But knowledge is easy to one who has understanding.
6褻慢人尋智慧,卻尋不著;聰明人易得知識。
7Leave the presence of a fool, Or you will not discern words of knowledge.
7到愚昧人面前,不見他嘴中有知識。
8The wisdom of the sensible is to understand his way, But the foolishness of fools is deceit.
8通達人的智慧在乎明白己道;愚昧人的愚妄乃是詭詐(或譯:自歎)。
9Fools mock at sin, But among the upright there is good will.
9愚妄人犯罪,以為戲耍(或譯:贖愆祭愚弄愚妄人);正直人互相喜悅。
10The heart knows its own bitterness, And a stranger does not share its joy.
10心中的苦楚,自己知道;心裡的喜樂,外人無干。
11The house of the wicked will be destroyed, But the tent of the upright will flourish.
11奸惡人的房屋必傾倒;正直人的帳棚必興盛。
12There is a way [which seems] right to a man, But its end is the way of death.
12有一條路,人以為正,至終成為死亡之路。
13Even in laughter the heart may be in pain, And the end of joy may be grief.
13人在喜笑中,心也憂愁;快樂至極就生愁苦。
14The backslider in heart will have his fill of his own ways, But a good man will [be satisfied] with his.
14心中背道的,必滿得自己的結果;善人必從自己的行為得以知足。
15The naive believes everything, But the sensible man considers his steps.
15愚蒙人是話都信;通達人步步謹慎。
16A wise man is cautious and turns away from evil, But a fool is arrogant and careless.
16智慧人懼怕,就遠離惡事;愚妄人卻狂傲自恃。
17A quick-tempered man acts foolishly, And a man of evil devices is hated.
17輕易發怒的,行事愚妄;設立詭計的,被人恨惡。
18The naive inherit foolishness, But the sensible are crowned with knowledge.
18愚蒙人得愚昧為產業;通達人得知識為冠冕。
19The evil will bow down before the good, And the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
19壞人俯伏在善人面前;惡人俯伏在義人門口。
20The poor is hated even by his neighbor, But those who love the rich are many.
20貧窮人連鄰舍也恨他;富足人朋友最多。
21He who despises his neighbor sins, But happy is he who is gracious to the poor.
21藐視鄰舍的,這人有罪;憐憫貧窮的,這人有福。
22Will they not go astray who devise evil? But kindness and truth [will be to] those who devise good.
22謀惡的,豈非走入迷途麼?謀善的,必得慈愛和誠實。
23In all labor there is profit, But mere talk [leads] only to poverty.
23諸般勤勞都有益處;嘴上多言乃致窮乏。
24The crown of the wise is their riches, [But] the folly of fools is foolishness.
24智慧人的財為自己的冠冕;愚妄人的愚昧終是愚昧。
25A truthful witness saves lives, But he who utters lies is treacherous.
25作真見證的,救人性命;吐出謊言的,施行詭詐。
26In the fear of the LORD there is strong confidence, And his children will have refuge.
26敬畏耶和華的,大有倚靠;他的兒女也有避難所。
27The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, That one may avoid the snares of death.
27敬畏耶和華就是生命的泉源,可以使人離開死亡的網羅。
28In a multitude of people is a king's glory, But in the dearth of people is a prince's ruin.
28帝王榮耀在乎民多;君王衰敗在乎民少。
29He who is slow to anger has great understanding, But he who is quick-tempered exalts folly.
29不輕易發怒的,大有聰明;性情暴躁的,大顯愚妄。
30A tranquil heart is life to the body, But passion is rottenness to the bones.
30心中安靜是肉體的生命;嫉妒是骨中的朽爛。
31He who oppresses the poor taunts his Maker, But he who is gracious to the needy honors Him.
31欺壓貧寒的,是辱沒造他的主;憐憫窮乏的,乃是尊敬主。
32The wicked is thrust down by his wrongdoing, But the righteous has a refuge when he dies.
32惡人在所行的惡上必被推倒;義人臨死,有所投靠。
33Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding, But in the hearts of fools it is made known.
33智慧存在聰明人心中;愚昧人心裡所存的,顯而易見。
34Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a disgrace to [any] people.
34公義使邦國高舉;罪惡是人民的羞辱。
35The king's favor is toward a servant who acts wisely, But his anger is toward him who acts shamefully.
35智慧的臣子蒙王恩惠;貽羞的僕人遭其震怒。
