NASB

1A wise son [accepts his] father's discipline, But a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.

1智慧子聽父親的教訓;褻慢人不聽責備。

2From the fruit of a man's mouth he enjoys good, But the desire of the treacherous is violence.

2人因口所結的果子,必享美福;奸詐人必遭強暴。

3The one who guards his mouth preserves his life; The one who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.

3謹守口的,得保生命;大張嘴的,必致敗亡。

4The soul of the sluggard craves and [gets] nothing, But the soul of the diligent is made fat.

4懶惰人羨慕,卻無所得;殷勤人必得豐裕。

5A righteous man hates falsehood, But a wicked man acts disgustingly and shamefully.

5義人恨惡謊言;惡人有臭名,且致慚愧。

6Righteousness guards the one whose way is blameless, But wickedness subverts the sinner.

6行為正直的,有公義保守;犯罪的,被邪惡傾覆。

7There is one who pretends to be rich, but has nothing; [Another] pretends to be poor, but has great wealth.

7假作富足的,卻一無所有;裝作窮乏的,卻廣有財物。

8The ransom of a man's life is his wealth, But the poor hears no rebuke.

8人的資財是他生命的贖價;窮乏人卻聽不見威嚇的話。

9The light of the righteous rejoices, But the lamp of the wicked goes out.

9義人的光明亮(原文是歡喜);惡人的燈要熄滅.。

10Through insolence comes nothing but strife, But wisdom is with those who receive counsel.

10驕傲只啟爭競;聽勸言的,卻有智慧。

11Wealth [obtained] by fraud dwindles, But the one who gathers by labor increases [it].

11不勞而得之財必然消耗;勤勞積蓄的,必見加增。

12Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But desire fulfilled is a tree of life.

12所盼望的遲延未得,令人心憂;所願意的臨到,卻是生命樹。

13The one who despises the word will be in debt to it, But the one who fears the commandment will be rewarded.

13藐視訓言的,自取滅亡;敬畏誡命的,必得善報。

14The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, To turn aside from the snares of death.

14智慧人的法則(或譯:指教)是生命的泉源,可以使人離開死亡的網羅。

15Good understanding produces favor, But the way of the treacherous is hard.

15美好的聰明使人蒙恩;奸詐人的道路崎嶇難行。

16Every prudent man acts with knowledge, But a fool displays folly.

16凡通達人都憑知識行事;愚昧人張揚自己的愚昧。

17A wicked messenger falls into adversity, But a faithful envoy [brings] healing.

17奸惡的使者必陷在禍患裡;忠信的使臣乃醫人的良藥。

18Poverty and shame [will come] to him who neglects discipline, But he who regards reproof will be honored.

18棄絕管教的,必致貧受辱;領受責備的,必得尊榮。

19Desire realized is sweet to the soul, But it is an abomination to fools to turn away from evil.

19所欲的成就,心覺甘甜;遠離惡事,為愚昧人所憎惡。

20He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will suffer harm.

20與智慧人同行的,必得智慧;和愚昧人作伴的,必受虧損。

21Adversity pursues sinners, But the righteous will be rewarded with prosperity.

21禍患追趕罪人;義人必得善報。

NASB

22A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children, And the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.

22善人給子孫遺留產業;罪人為義人積存資財。

23Abundant food [is in] the fallow ground of the poor, But it is swept away by injustice.

23窮人耕種多得糧食,但因不義,有消滅的。

24He who withholds his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him diligently.

24不忍用杖打兒子的,是恨惡他;疼愛兒子的,隨時管教。

25The righteous has enough to satisfy his appetite, But the stomach of the wicked is in need.

25義人吃得飽足;惡人肚腹缺糧。
