1Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, But he who hates reproof is stupid.
1喜愛管教的,就是喜愛知識;恨惡責備的,卻是畜類。
2A good man will obtain favor from the LORD, But He will condemn a man who devises evil.
2善人必蒙耶和華的恩惠;設詭計的人,耶和華必定他的罪。
3A man will not be established by wickedness, But the root of the righteous will not be moved.
3人靠惡行不能堅立;義人的根必不動搖。
4An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, But she who shames [him] is like rottenness in his bones.
4才德的婦人是丈夫的冠冕;貽羞的婦人如同朽爛在他丈夫的骨中。
5The thoughts of the righteous are just, [But] the counsels of the wicked are deceitful.
5義人的思念是公平;惡人的計謀是詭詐。
6The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, But the mouth of the upright will deliver them.
6惡人的言論是埋伏流人的血;正直人的口必拯救人。
7The wicked are overthrown and are no more, But the house of the righteous will stand.
7惡人傾覆,歸於無有;義人的家必站得住。
8A man will be praised according to his insight, But one of perverse mind will be despised.
8人必按自己的智慧被稱讚;心中乖謬的,必被藐視。
9Better is he who is lightly esteemed and has a servant Than he who honors himself and lacks bread.
9被人輕賤,卻有僕人,強如自尊,缺少食物。
10A righteous man has regard for the life of his animal, But [even] the compassion of the wicked is cruel.
10義人顧惜他牲畜的命;惡人的憐憫也是殘忍。
11He who tills his land will have plenty of bread, But he who pursues worthless [things] lacks sense.
11耕種自己田地的,必得飽食;追隨虛浮的,卻是無知。
12The wicked man desires the booty of evil men, But the root of the righteous yields [fruit].
12惡人想得壞人的網羅;義人的根得以結實。
13An evil man is ensnared by the transgression of his lips, But the righteous will escape from trouble.
13惡人嘴中的過錯是自己的網羅;但義人必脫離患難。
14A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his words, And the deeds of a man's hands will return to him.
14人因口所結的果子,必飽得美福;人手所做的,必為自己的報應。
15The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But a wise man is he who listens to counsel.
15愚妄人所行的,在自己眼中看為正直;惟智慧人肯聽人的勸教。
16A fool's anger is known at once, But a prudent man conceals dishonor.
16愚妄人的惱怒立時顯露;通達人能忍辱藏羞。
17He who speaks truth tells what is right, But a false witness, deceit.
17說出真話的,顯明公義;作假見證的,顯出詭詐。
18There is one who speaks rashly like the thrusts of a sword, But the tongue of the wise brings healing.
18說話浮躁的,如刀刺人;智慧人的舌頭卻為醫人的良藥。
19Truthful lips will be established forever, But a lying tongue is only for a moment.
19口吐真言,永遠堅立;舌說謊話,只存片時。
20Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil, But counselors of peace have joy.
20圖謀惡事的,心存詭詐;勸人和睦的,便得喜樂。
21No harm befalls the righteous, But the wicked are filled with trouble.
21義人不遭災害;惡人滿受禍患。
22Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD, But those who deal faithfully are His delight.
22說謊言的嘴為耶和華所憎惡;行事誠實的,為他所喜悅。
23A prudent man conceals knowledge, But the heart of fools proclaims folly.
23通達人隱藏知識;愚昧人的心彰顯愚昧。
24The hand of the diligent will rule, But the slack [hand] will be put to forced labor.
24殷勤人的手必掌權;懶惰的人必服苦。
25Anxiety in a man's heart weighs it down, But a good word makes it glad.
25人心憂慮,屈而不伸;一句良言,使心歡樂。
26The righteous is a guide to his neighbor, But the way of the wicked leads them astray.
26義人引導他的鄰舍;惡人的道叫人失迷。
27A lazy man does not roast his prey, But the precious possession of a man [is] diligence.
27懶惰的人不烤打獵所得的;殷勤的人卻得寶貴的財物。
28In the way of righteousness is life, And in [its] pathway there is no death.
28在公義的道上有生命;其路之中並無死亡。
