1The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a father glad, But a foolish son is a grief to his mother.
1所羅門的箴言:智慧之子使父親歡樂;愚昧之子叫母親擔憂。
2Ill-gotten gains do not profit, But righteousness delivers from death.
2不義之財毫無益處;惟有公義能救人脫離死亡。
3The LORD will not allow the righteous to hunger, But He will reject the craving of the wicked.
3耶和華不使義人受飢餓;惡人所欲的,他必推開。
4Poor is he who works with a negligent hand, But the hand of the diligent makes rich.
4手懶的,要受貧窮;手勤的,卻要富足。
5He who gathers in summer is a son who acts wisely, [But] he who sleeps in harvest is a son who acts shamefully.
5夏天聚斂的,是智慧之子;收割時沉睡的,是貽羞之子。
6Blessings are on the head of the righteous, But the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.
6福祉臨到義人的頭;強暴蒙蔽惡人的口。
7The memory of the righteous is blessed, But the name of the wicked will rot.
7義人的紀念被稱讚;惡人的名字必朽爛。
8The wise of heart will receive commands, But a babbling fool will be ruined.
8心中智慧的,必受命令;口裡愚妄的,必致傾倒。
9He who walks in integrity walks securely, But he who perverts his ways will be found out.
9行正直路的,步步安穩;走彎曲道的,必致敗露。
10He who winks the eye causes trouble, And a babbling fool will be ruined.
10以眼傳神的,使人憂患;口裡愚妄的,必致傾倒。
11The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, But the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.
11義人的口是生命的泉源;強暴蒙蔽惡人的口。
12Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all transgressions.
12恨能挑啟爭端;愛能遮掩一切過錯。
13On the lips of the discerning, wisdom is found, But a rod is for the back of him who lacks understanding.
13明哲人嘴裡有智慧;無知人背上受刑杖。
14Wise men store up knowledge, But with the mouth of the foolish, ruin is at hand.
14智慧人積存知識;愚妄人的口速致敗壞。
15The rich man's wealth is his fortress, The ruin of the poor is their poverty.
15富戶的財物是他的堅城;窮人的貧乏是他的敗壞。
16The wages of the righteous is life, The income of the wicked, punishment.
16義人的勤勞致生;惡人的進項致死(死:原文是罪)。
17He is [on] the path of life who heeds instruction, But he who ignores reproof goes astray.
17謹守訓誨的,乃在生命的道上;違棄責備的,便失迷了路。
18He who conceals hatred [has] lying lips, And he who spreads slander is a fool.
18隱藏怨恨的,有說謊的嘴;口出讒謗的,是愚妄的人。
19When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable, But he who restrains his lips is wise.
19多言多語難免有過;禁止嘴唇是有智慧。
20The tongue of the righteous is [as] choice silver, The heart of the wicked is [worth] little.
20義人的舌乃似高銀;惡人的心所值無幾。
21The lips of the righteous feed many, But fools die for lack of understanding.
21義人的口教養多人;愚昧人因無知而死亡。
22It is the blessing of the LORD that makes rich, And He adds no sorrow to it.
22耶和華所賜的福使人富足,並不加上憂慮。
23Doing wickedness is like sport to a fool, And [so is] wisdom to a man of understanding.
23愚妄人以行惡為戲耍;明哲人卻以智慧為樂。
24What the wicked fears will come upon him, But the desire of the righteous will be granted.
24惡人所怕的,必臨到他;義人所願的,必蒙應允。
25When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more, But the righteous [has] an everlasting foundation.
25暴風一過,惡人歸於無有;義人的根基卻是永久。
26Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, So is the lazy one to those who send him.
26懶惰人叫差他的人如醋倒牙,如煙薰目。
27The fear of the LORD prolongs life, But the years of the wicked will be shortened.
27敬畏耶和華使人日子加多;但惡人的年歲必被減少。
28The hope of the righteous is gladness, But the expectation of the wicked perishes.
28義人的盼望必得喜樂;惡人的指望必致滅沒。
29The way of the LORD is a stronghold to the upright, But ruin to the workers of iniquity.
29耶和華的道是正直人的保障,卻成了作孽人的敗壞。
30The righteous will never be shaken, But the wicked will not dwell in the land.
30義人永不挪移;惡人不得住在地上。
31The mouth of the righteous flows with wisdom, But the perverted tongue will be cut out.
31義人的口滋生智慧;乖謬的舌必被割斷。
32The lips of the righteous bring forth what is acceptable, But the mouth of the wicked what is perverted.
32義人的嘴能令人喜悅;惡人的口說乖謬的話。
