1When Pashhur the priest, the son of Immer, who was chief officer in the house of the LORD, heard Jeremiah prophesying these things,
1祭司音麥的兒子巴施戶珥作耶和華殿的總管，聽見耶利米預言這些事，
2Pashhur had Jeremiah the prophet beaten and put him in the stocks that were at the upper Benjamin Gate, which was by the house of the LORD.
2他就打先知耶利米，用耶和華殿著便雅憫高門內的枷，將他枷在那裡。
3On the next day, when Pashhur released Jeremiah from the stocks, Jeremiah said to him, 'Pashhur is not the name the LORD has called you, but rather Magor-missabib.
3次日，巴施戶珥將耶利米開枷釋放。於是耶利米對他說：耶和華不是叫你的名為巴施戶珥，乃是叫你瑪歌珥•米撒畢（就是四面驚嚇的意思），
4'For thus says the LORD, 'Behold, I am going to make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends; and while your eyes look on, they will fall by the sword of their enemies. So I will give over all Judah to the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will carry them away as exiles to Babylon and will slay them with the sword.
4因耶和華如此說：我必使你自覺驚嚇，你也必使眾朋友驚嚇；他們必倒在仇敵的刀下，你也必親眼看見；我必將猶大人全交在巴比倫王的手中，他要將他們擄到巴比倫去，也要用刀將他們殺戮。
5'I will also give over all the wealth of this city, all its produce and all its costly things; even all the treasures of the kings of Judah I will give over to the hand of their enemies, and they will plunder them, take them away and bring them to Babylon.
5並且我要將這城中的一切貨財和勞碌得來的，並一切珍寶，以及猶大君王所有的寶物，都交在他們仇敵的手中；仇敵要當作掠物帶到巴比倫去。
6'And you, Pashhur, and all who live in your house will go into captivity; and you will enter Babylon, and there you will die and there you will be buried, you and all your friends to whom you have falsely prophesied.''
6你這巴施戶珥和一切住在你家中的人都必被擄去；你和你的眾朋友，就是你向他們說假預言的，都必到巴比倫去，要死在那著，葬在那著。
7O LORD, You have deceived me and I was deceived; You have overcome me and prevailed. I have become a laughingstock all day long; Everyone mocks me.
7耶和華啊，你曾勸導我，我也聽了你的勸導。你比我有力量，且勝了我。我終日成為笑話，人人都戲弄我。
8For each time I speak, I cry aloud; I proclaim violence and destruction, Because for me the word of the LORD has resulted In reproach and derision all day long.
8我每逢講論的時候，就發出哀聲，我喊叫說：有強暴和毀滅！因為耶和華的話終日成了我的凌辱、譏刺。
9But if I say, 'I will not remember Him Or speak anymore in His name,' Then in my heart it becomes like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; And I am weary of holding [it] in, And I cannot endure [it].
9我若說：我不再提耶和華，也不再奉他的名講論，我便心裡覺得似乎有燒著的火閉塞在我骨中，我就含忍不住，不能自禁。
10For I have heard the whispering of many, 'Terror on every side! Denounce [him]; yes, let us denounce him!' All my trusted friends, Watching for my fall, say: 'Perhaps he will be deceived, so that we may prevail against him And take our revenge on him.'
10我聽見了許多人的讒謗，四圍都是驚嚇；就是我知己的朋友也都窺探我，願我跌倒，說：告他罷，我們也要告他！或者他被引誘，我們就能勝他，在他身上報仇。
11But the LORD is with me like a dread champion; Therefore my persecutors will stumble and not prevail. They will be utterly ashamed, because they have failed, With an everlasting disgrace that will not be forgotten.
11然而，耶和華與我同在，好像甚可怕的勇士。因此，逼迫我的必都絆跌，不能得勝；他們必大大蒙羞，就是受永不忘記的羞辱，因為他們行事沒有智慧。
12Yet, O LORD of hosts, You who test the righteous, Who see the mind and the heart; Let me see Your vengeance on them; For to You I have set forth my cause.
12試驗義人、察看人肺腑心腸的萬軍之耶和華啊，求你容我見你在他們身上報仇，因我將我的案件向你稟明了。
13Sing to the LORD, praise the LORD! For He has delivered the soul of the needy one From the hand of evildoers.
13你們要向耶和華唱歌；讚美耶和華！因他救了窮人的性命脫離惡人的手。
14Cursed be the day when I was born; Let the day not be blessed when my mother bore me!
14願我生的那日受咒詛；願我母親產我的那日不蒙福！
15Cursed be the man who brought the news To my father, saying, 'A baby boy has been born to you!' [And] made him very happy.
15給我父親報信說你得了兒子，使我父親甚歡喜的，願那人受咒詛。
16But let that man be like the cities Which the LORD overthrew without relenting, And let him hear an outcry in the morning And a shout of alarm at noon;
16願那人像耶和華所傾覆而不後悔的城邑；願他早晨聽見哀聲，晌午聽見吶喊；
17Because he did not kill me before birth, So that my mother would have been my grave, And her womb ever pregnant.
17因他在我未出胎的時候不殺我，使我母親成了我的墳墓，胎就時常重大。
18Why did I ever come forth from the womb To look on trouble and sorrow, So that my days have been spent in shame?
18我為何出胎見勞碌愁苦，使我的年日因羞愧消滅呢？
