1Thus says the LORD, 'Go and buy a potter's earthenware jar, and [take] some of the elders of the people and some of the senior priests.
1耶和華如此說：你去買窯匠的瓦瓶，又帶百姓中的長老和祭司中的長老，
2'Then go out to the valley of Ben-hinnom, which is by the entrance of the potsherd gate, and proclaim there the words that I tell you,
2出去到欣嫩子谷、哈珥西（就是瓦片的意思）的門口那著，宣告我所吩咐你的話，
3and say, 'Hear the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, 'Behold I am about to bring a calamity upon this place, at which the ears of everyone that hears of it will tingle.
3說：猶大君王和耶路撒冷的居民哪，當聽耶和華的話。萬軍之耶和華─以色列的神如此說：我必使災禍臨到這地方，凡聽見的人都必耳鳴；
4'Because they have forsaken Me and have made this an alien place and have burned sacrifices in it to other gods, that neither they nor their forefathers nor the kings of Judah had [ever] known, and [because] they have filled this place with the blood of the innocent
4因為他們和他們列祖，並猶大君王離棄我，將這地方看為平常，在這裡向素不認識的別神燒香，又使這地方滿了無辜人的血，
5and have built the high places of Baal to burn their sons in the fire as burnt offerings to Baal, a thing which I never commanded or spoke of, nor did it [ever] enter My mind;
5又建築巴力的邱壇，好在火中焚燒自己的兒子，作為燔祭獻給巴力。這不是我所吩咐的，不是我所提說的，也不是我心所起的意。
6therefore, behold, days are coming,' declares the LORD, 'when this place will no longer be called Topheth or the valley of Ben-hinnom, but rather the valley of Slaughter.
6耶和華說：因此，日子將到，這地方不再稱為陀斐特和欣嫩子谷，反倒稱為殺戮谷。
7'I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place, and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies and by the hand of those who seek their life; and I will give over their carcasses as food for the birds of the sky and the beasts of the earth.
7我必在這地方使猶大和耶路撒冷的計謀落空，也必使他們在仇敵面前倒於刀下，並尋索其命的人手下。他們的屍首，我必給空中的飛鳥和地上的野獸作食物。
8'I will also make this city a desolation and an [object of] hissing; everyone who passes by it will be astonished and hiss because of all its disasters.
8我必使這城令人驚駭嗤笑；凡經過的人，必因這城所遭的災驚駭嗤笑。
9'I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they will eat one another's flesh in the siege and in the distress with which their enemies and those who seek their life will distress them.''
9我必使他們在圍困窘迫之中，就是仇敵和尋索其命的人窘迫他們的時候，各人吃自己兒女的肉和朋友的肉。
10'Then you are to break the jar in the sight of the men who accompany you
10你要在同去的人眼前打碎那瓶，
11and say to them, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, 'Just so will I break this people and this city, even as one breaks a potter's vessel, which cannot again be repaired; and they will bury in Topheth because there is no [other] place for burial.
11對他們說：萬軍之耶和華如此說：我要照樣打碎這民和這城，正如人打碎窯匠的瓦器，以致不能再囫圇。並且人要在陀斐特葬埋屍首，甚至無處可葬。
12'This is how I will treat this place and its inhabitants,' declares the LORD, 'so as to make this city like Topheth.
12耶和華說：我必向這地方和其中的居民如此行，使這城與陀斐特一樣。
13'The houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah will be defiled like the place Topheth, because of all the houses on whose rooftops they burned sacrifices to all the heavenly host and poured out drink offerings to other gods.'''
13耶路撒冷的房屋和猶大君王的宮殿是已經被玷污的，就是他們在其上向天上的萬象燒香、向別神澆奠祭的宮殿房屋，都必與陀斐特一樣。
14Then Jeremiah came from Topheth, where the LORD had sent him to prophesy; and he stood in the court of the LORD'S house and said to all the people:
14耶利米從陀斐特─就是耶和華差他去說預言的地方─回來，站在耶和華殿的院中，對眾人說：
15'Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, 'Behold, I am about to bring on this city and all its towns the entire calamity that I have declared against it, because they have stiffened their necks so as not to heed My words.''
15萬軍之耶和華─以色列的神如此說：我必使我所說的一切災禍臨到這城和屬城的一切城邑，因為他們硬著頸項不聽我的話。
