1Do not be envious of evil men, Nor desire to be with them;
1你不要嫉妒惡人，也不要起意與他們相處；
2For their minds devise violence, And their lips talk of trouble.
2因為，他們的心圖謀強暴，他們的口談論奸惡。
3By wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established;
3房屋因智慧建造，又因聰明立穩；
4And by knowledge the rooms are filled With all precious and pleasant riches.
4其中因知識充滿各樣美好寶貴的財物。
5A wise man is strong, And a man of knowledge increases power.
5智慧人大有能力；有知識的人力上加力。
6For by wise guidance you will wage war, And in abundance of counselors there is victory.
6你去打仗，要憑智謀；謀士眾多，人便得勝。
7Wisdom is [too] exalted for a fool, He does not open his mouth in the gate.
7智慧極高，非愚昧人所能及，所以在城門內不敢開口。
8One who plans to do evil, Men will call a schemer.
8設計作惡的，必稱為奸人。
9The devising of folly is sin, And the scoffer is an abomination to men.
9愚妄人的思念乃是罪惡；褻慢者為人所憎惡。
10If you are slack in the day of distress, Your strength is limited.
10你在患難之日若膽怯，你的力量就微小。
11Deliver those who are being taken away to death, And those who are staggering to slaughter, Oh hold [them] back.
11人被拉到死地，你要解救；人將被殺，你須攔阻。
12If you say, 'See, we did not know this,' Does He not consider [it] who weighs the hearts? And does He not know [it] who keeps your soul? And will He not render to man according to his work?
12你若說：這事我未曾知道，那衡量人心的豈不明白麼？保守你命的豈不知道麼？他豈不按各人所行的報應各人麼？
13My son, eat honey, for it is good, Yes, the honey from the comb is sweet to your taste;
13我兒，你要吃蜜，因為是好的；吃蜂房下滴的蜜便覺甘甜。
14Know [that] wisdom is thus for your soul; If you find [it], then there will be a future, And your hope will not be cut off.
14你心得了智慧，也必覺得如此。你若找著，至終必有善報；你的指望也不致斷絕。
15Do not lie in wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; Do not destroy his resting place;
15你這惡人，不要埋伏攻擊義人的家；不要毀壞他安居之所。
16For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again, But the wicked stumble in [time of] calamity.
16因為，義人雖七次跌倒，仍必興起；惡人卻被禍患傾倒。
17Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, And do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles;
17你仇敵跌倒，你不要歡喜；他傾倒，你心不要快樂；
18Or the LORD will see [it] and be displeased, And turn His anger away from him.
18恐怕耶和華看見就不喜悅，將怒氣從仇敵身上轉過來。
19Do not fret because of evildoers Or be envious of the wicked;
19不要為作惡的心懷不平，也不要嫉妒惡人；
20For there will be no future for the evil man; The lamp of the wicked will be put out.
20因為，惡人終不得善報；惡人的燈也必熄滅。
21My son, fear the LORD and the king; Do not associate with those who are given to change,
21我兒，你要敬畏耶和華與君王，不要與反覆無常的人結交，
22For their calamity will rise suddenly, And who knows the ruin [that comes] from both of them?
22因為他們的災難必忽然而起。耶和華與君王所施行的毀滅，誰能知道呢？
23These also are sayings of the wise. To show partiality in judgment is not good.
23以下也是智慧人的箴言：審判時看人情面是不好的。
24He who says to the wicked, 'You are righteous,' Peoples will curse him, nations will abhor him;
24對惡人說：你是義人的，這人萬民必咒詛，列邦必憎惡。
25But to those who rebuke the [wicked] will be delight, And a good blessing will come upon them.
25責備惡人的，必得喜悅；美好的福也必臨到他。
26He kisses the lips Who gives a right answer.
26應對正直的，猶如與人親嘴。
27Prepare your work outside And make it ready for yourself in the field; Afterwards, then, build your house.
27你要在外頭預備工料，在田間辦理整齊，然後建造房屋。
28Do not be a witness against your neighbor without cause, And do not deceive with your lips.
28不可無故作見證陷害鄰舍，也不可用嘴欺騙人。
29Do not say, 'Thus I shall do to him as he has done to me; I will render to the man according to his work.'
29不可說：人怎樣待我，我也怎樣待他；我必照他所行的報復他。
30I passed by the field of the sluggard And by the vineyard of the man lacking sense,
30我經過懶惰人的田地、無知人的葡萄園，
31And behold, it was completely overgrown with thistles; Its surface was covered with nettles, And its stone wall was broken down.
31荊棘長滿了地皮，刺草遮蓋了田面，石牆也坍塌了。
32When I saw, I reflected upon it; I looked, [and] received instruction.
32我看見就留心思想；我看著就領了訓誨。
33'A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to rest,'
33再睡片時，打盹片時，抱著手躺臥片時，
34Then your poverty will come [as] a robber And your want like an armed man.
34你的貧窮就必如強盜速來，你的缺乏彷彿拿兵器的人來到。
