Genesis 3

¹Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, 'Indeed, has God said, 'You shall not eat from any tree of the garden '?'

¹耶和華神所造的，惟有蛇比田野一切的活物更狡猾。蛇對女人說：　神豈是真說不許你們吃園中所有樹上的果子麼？

²The woman said to the serpent, 'From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat;

²女人對蛇說：園中樹上的果子，我們可以吃，

³but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.''

³惟有園當中那棵樹上的果子，神曾說：你們不可吃，也不可摸，免得你們死。

⁴The serpent said to the woman, 'You surely will not die!

⁴蛇對女人說：你們不一定死；

⁵'For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.'

⁵因為神知道，你們吃的日子眼睛就明亮了，你們便如神能知道善惡。

⁶When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make [one] wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.

⁶於是女人見那棵樹的果子好作食物，也悅人的眼目，且是可喜愛的，能使人有智慧，就摘下果子來吃了，又給他丈夫，他丈夫也吃了。

⁷Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings.

⁷他們二人的眼睛就明亮了，才知道自己是赤身露體，便拿無花果樹的葉子為自己編作裙子。

⁸They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

⁸天起了涼風，耶和華神在園中行走。那人和他妻子聽見　神的聲音，就藏在園裡的樹木中，躲避耶和華　神的面。

⁹Then the LORD God called to the man, and said to him, 'Where are you?'

⁹耶和華神呼喚那人，對他說：你在那裡？

¹⁰He said, 'I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.'

¹⁰他說：我在園中聽見你的聲音，我就害怕；因為我赤身露體，我便藏了。

¹¹And He said, 'Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?'

¹¹耶和華說：誰告訴你赤身露體呢？莫非你吃了我吩咐你不可吃的那樹上的果子嗎？

¹²The man said, 'The woman whom You gave [to be] with me, she gave me from the tree, and I ate.'

¹²那人說：你所賜給我與我同居的女人，他把那樹上的果子給我，我就吃了。

¹³Then the LORD God said to the woman, 'What is this you have done?' And the woman said, 'The serpent deceived me, and I ate.'

¹³耶和華神對女人說：你作的是甚麼事呢？女人說：那蛇引誘我，我就吃了。

¹⁴The LORD God said to the serpent, 'Because you have done this, Cursed are you more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you will go, And dust you will eat All the days of your life;

¹⁴耶和華神對蛇說：你既作了這事，就必受咒詛，比一切的牲畜野獸更甚。你必用肚子行走，終身吃土。

¹⁵And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise him on the heel.'

¹⁵我又要叫你和女人彼此為仇；你的後裔和女人的後裔也彼此為仇。女人的後裔要傷你的頭；你要傷他的腳跟。

¹⁶To the woman He said, 'I will greatly multiply Your pain in childbirth, In pain you will bring forth children; Yet your desire will be for your husband, And he will rule over you.'

¹⁶又對女人說：我必多多加增你懷胎的苦楚；你生產兒女必多受苦楚。你必戀慕你丈夫；你丈夫必管轄你。

¹⁷Then to Adam He said, 'Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree about which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat from it'; Cursed is the ground because of you; In toil you will eat of it All the days of your life.

¹⁷又對亞當說：你既聽從妻子的話，吃了我所吩咐你不可吃的那樹上的果子，地必為你的緣故受咒詛；你必終身勞苦才能從地裡得吃的。

¹⁸'Both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you; And you will eat the plants of the field;

¹⁸地必給你長出荊棘和蒺藜來；你也要吃田間的菜蔬。

¹⁹By the sweat of your face You will eat bread, Till you return to the ground, Because from it you were taken; For you are dust, And to dust you shall return.'

¹⁹你必汗流滿面才得糊口，直到你歸了土，因為你是從土而出的。你本是塵土，仍要歸於塵土。

²⁰Now the man called his wife's name Eve, because she was the mother of all [the] living.

²⁰亞當給他妻子起名叫夏娃，因為他是眾生之母。

²¹The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them.

²¹耶和華神為亞當和他妻子用皮子作衣服給他們穿。

²²Then the LORD God said, 'Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand, and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever '--

²²耶和華神說：那人已經與我們相似，能知道善惡；現在恐怕他伸手又摘生命樹的果子吃，就永遠活著。

²³therefore the LORD God sent him out from the garden of Eden, to cultivate the ground from which he was taken.

²³耶和華神便打發他出伊甸園去，耕種他所自出之土。

²⁴So He drove the man out; and at the east of the garden of Eden He stationed the cherubim and the flaming sword which turned every direction to guard the way to the tree of life.

²⁴於是把他趕出去了；又在伊甸園的東邊安設基路伯和四面轉動發火燄的劍，要把守生命樹的道路。
