1Now it was after this that Absalom the son of David had a beautiful sister whose name was Tamar, and Amnon the son of David loved her.
1大衛的兒子押沙龍有一個美貌的妹子，名叫他瑪。大衛的兒子暗嫩愛他。
2Amnon was so frustrated because of his sister Tamar that he made himself ill, for she was a virgin, and it seemed hard to Amnon to do anything to her.
2暗嫩為他妹子他瑪憂急成病。他瑪還是處女，暗嫩以為難向他行事。
3But Amnon had a friend whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah, David's brother; and Jonadab was a very shrewd man.
3暗嫩有一個朋友，名叫約拿達，是大衛長兄示米亞的兒子。這約拿達為人極其狡猾。
4He said to him, 'O son of the king, why are you so depressed morning after morning? Will you not tell me?' Then Amnon said to him, 'I am in love with Tamar, the sister of my brother Absalom.'
4他問暗嫩說：王的兒子啊，為何一天比一天瘦弱呢？請你告訴我。暗嫩回答說：我愛我兄弟押沙龍的妹子他瑪。
5Jonadab then said to him, 'Lie down on your bed and pretend to be ill; when your father comes to see you, say to him, 'Please let my sister Tamar come and give me [some] food to eat, and let her prepare the food in my sight, that I may see [it] and eat from her hand.''
5約拿達說：你不如躺在床上裝病；你父親來看你，就對他說：求父叫我妹子他瑪來，在我眼前預備食物，遞給我吃，使我看見，好從他手裡接過來吃。
6So Amnon lay down and pretended to be ill; when the king came to see him, Amnon said to the king, 'Please let my sister Tamar come and make me a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat from her hand.'
6於是暗嫩躺臥裝病。王來看他，他對王說：求父叫我妹子他瑪來，在我眼前為我做兩個餅，我好從他手裡接過來吃。
7Then David sent to the house for Tamar, saying, 'Go now to your brother Amnon's house, and prepare food for him.'
7大衛就打發人到宮裡，對他瑪說：你往你哥哥暗嫩的屋裡去，為他預備食物。
8So Tamar went to her brother Amnon's house, and he was lying down. And she took dough, kneaded [it], made cakes in his sight, and baked the cakes.
8他瑪就到他哥哥暗嫩的屋裡；暗嫩正躺臥。他瑪摶麵，在他眼前做餅，且烤熟了，
9She took the pan and dished [them] out before him, but he refused to eat. And Amnon said, 'Have everyone go out from me.' So everyone went out from him.
9在他面前將餅從鍋裡倒出來，他卻不肯吃，便說：眾人離開我出去罷！眾人就都離開他，出去了。
10Then Amnon said to Tamar, 'Bring the food into the bedroom, that I may eat from your hand.' So Tamar took the cakes which she had made and brought them into the bedroom to her brother Amnon.
10暗嫩對他瑪說：你把食物拿進臥房，我好從你手裡接過來吃。他瑪就把所做的餅拿進臥房，到他哥哥暗嫩那裡，
11When she brought [them] to him to eat, he took hold of her and said to her, 'Come, lie with me, my sister.'
11拿著餅上前給他吃，他便拉住他瑪，說：我妹妹，你來與我同寢。
12But she answered him, 'No, my brother, do not violate me, for such a thing is not done in Israel; do not do this disgraceful thing!
12他瑪說：我哥哥，不要玷辱我。以色列人中不當這樣行，你不要做這醜事；
13'As for me, where could I get rid of my reproach? And as for you, you will be like one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, please speak to the king, for he will not withhold me from you.'
13你玷辱了我，我何以掩蓋我的羞恥呢？你在以色列中也成了愚妄人。你可以求王，他必不禁止我歸你。
14However, he would not listen to her; since he was stronger than she, he violated her and lay with her.
14但暗嫩不肯聽他的話，因比他力大，就玷辱他，與他同寢。
15Then Amnon hated her with a very great hatred; for the hatred with which he hated her was greater than the love with which he had loved her. And Amnon said to her, 'Get up, go away!'
15隨後，暗嫩極其恨他，那恨他的心比先前愛他的心更甚，對他說：你起來，去罷！
16But she said to him, 'No, because this wrong in sending me away is greater than the other that you have done to me!' Yet he would not listen to her.
16他瑪說：不要這樣！你趕出我去的這罪比你才行的更重！但暗嫩不肯聽他的話，
17Then he called his young man who attended him and said, 'Now throw this woman out of my [presence], and lock the door behind her.'
17就叫伺候自己的僕人來，說：將這個女子趕出去！他一出去，你就關門，上閂。
18Now she had on a long-sleeved garment; for in this manner the virgin daughters of the king dressed themselves in robes. Then his attendant took her out and locked the door behind her.
18那時他瑪穿著彩衣，因為沒有出嫁的公主都是這樣穿。暗嫩的僕人就把他趕出去，關門上閂。
19Tamar put ashes on her head and tore her long-sleeved garment which [was] on her; and she put her hand on her head and went away, crying aloud as she went.
19他瑪把灰塵撒在頭上，撕裂所穿的彩衣，以手抱頭，一面行走，一面哭喊。
20Then Absalom her brother said to her, 'Has Amnon your brother been with you? But now keep silent, my sister, he is your brother; do not take this matter to heart.' So Tamar remained and was desolate in her brother Absalom's house.
20他胞兄押沙龍問他說：莫非你哥哥暗嫩與你親近了麼？我妹妹，暫且不要作聲，他是你的哥哥，不要將這事放在心上。他瑪就孤孤單單地住在他胞兄押沙龍家裡。
21Now when King David heard of all these matters, he was very angry.
21大衛王聽見這事，就甚發怒。
22But Absalom did not speak to Amnon either good or bad; for Absalom hated Amnon because he had violated his sister Tamar.
22押沙龍並不和他哥哥暗嫩說好說歹；因為暗嫩玷辱他妹妹他瑪，所以押沙龍恨惡他。
23Now it came about after two full years that Absalom had sheepshearers in Baal-hazor, which is near Ephraim, and Absalom invited all the king's sons.
23過了二年，在靠近以法蓮的巴力夏瑣有人為押沙龍剪羊毛；押沙龍請王的眾子與他同去。
24Absalom came to the king and said, 'Behold now, your servant has sheepshearers; please let the king and his servants go with your servant.'
24押沙龍來見王，說：現在有人為僕人剪羊毛，請王和王的臣僕與僕人同去。
25But the king said to Absalom, 'No, my son, we should not all go, for we will be burdensome to you.' Although he urged him, he would not go, but blessed him.
25王對押沙龍說：我兒，我們不必都去，恐怕使你耗費太多。押沙龍再三請王，王仍是不肯去，只為他祝福。
26Then Absalom said, 'If not, please let my brother Amnon go with us.' And the king said to him, 'Why should he go with you?'
26押沙龍說：王若不去，求王許我哥哥暗嫩同去。王說：何必要他去呢？
27But when Absalom urged him, he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him.
27押沙龍再三求王，王就許暗嫩和王的眾子與他同去。
28Absalom commanded his servants, saying, 'See now, when Amnon's heart is merry with wine, and when I say to you, 'Strike Amnon,' then put him to death. Do not fear; have not I myself commanded you? Be courageous and be valiant.'
28押沙龍吩咐僕人說：你們注意，看暗嫩飲酒暢快的時候，我對你們說殺暗嫩，你們便殺他，不要懼怕。這不是我吩咐你們的麼？你們只管壯膽奮勇！
29The servants of Absalom did to Amnon just as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king's sons arose and each mounted his mule and fled.
29押沙龍的僕人就照押沙龍所吩咐的，向暗嫩行了。王的眾子都起來，各人騎上騾子，逃跑了。
30Now it was while they were on the way that the report came to David, saying, 'Absalom has struck down all the king's sons, and not one of them is left.'
30他們還在路上，有風聲傳到大衛那裡，說：押沙龍將王的眾子都殺了，沒有留下一個。
31Then the king arose, tore his clothes and lay on the ground; and all his servants were standing by with clothes torn.
31王就起來，撕裂衣服，躺在地上。王的臣僕也都撕裂衣服，站在旁邊。
32Jonadab, the son of Shimeah, David's brother, responded, 'Do not let my lord suppose they have put to death all the young men, the king's sons, for Amnon alone is dead; because by the intent of Absalom this has been determined since the day that he violated his sister Tamar.
32大衛的長兄，示米亞的兒子約拿達說：我主，不要以為王的眾子─少年人都殺了，只有暗嫩一個人死了。自從暗嫩玷辱押沙龍妹子他瑪的那日，押沙龍就定意殺暗嫩了。
33'Now therefore, do not let my lord the king take the report to heart, namely, 'all the king's sons are dead,' for only Amnon is dead.'
33現在，我主我王，不要把這事放在心上，以為王的眾子都死了，只有暗嫩一個人死了。
34Now Absalom had fled. And the young man who was the watchman raised his eyes and looked, and behold, many people were coming from the road behind him by the side of the mountain.
34押沙龍逃跑了。守望的少年人舉目觀看，見有許多人從山坡的路上來。
35Jonadab said to the king, 'Behold, the king's sons have come; according to your servant's word, so it happened.'
35約拿達對王說：看哪，王的眾子都來了，果然與你僕人所說的相合。
36As soon as he had finished speaking, behold, the king's sons came and lifted their voices and wept; and also the king and all his servants wept very bitterly.
36話才說完，王的眾子都到了，放聲大哭。王和臣僕也都哭得甚慟。
37Now Absalom fled and went to Talmai the son of Ammihud, the king of Geshur. And [David] mourned for his son every day.
37押沙龍逃到基述王亞米忽的兒子達買那裡去了。大衛天天為他兒子悲哀。
38So Absalom had fled and gone to Geshur, and was there three years.
38押沙龍逃到基述，在那裡住了三年。
39[The heart of] King David longed to go out to Absalom; for he was comforted concerning Amnon, since he was dead.
39暗嫩死了以後，大衛王得了安慰，心裡切切想念押沙龍。
