1Now a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, 'Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the LORD; and the creditor has come to take my two children to be his slaves.'
1有一個先知門徒的妻哀求以利沙說：你僕人─我丈夫死了，他敬畏耶和華是你所知道的。現在有債主來，要取我兩個兒子作奴僕。
2Elisha said to her, 'What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?' And she said, 'Your maidservant has nothing in the house except a jar of oil.'
2以利沙問他說：我可以為你做甚麼呢？你告訴我，你家裡有甚麼？他說：婢女家中除了一瓶油之外，沒有甚麼。
3Then he said, 'Go, borrow vessels at large for yourself from all your neighbors, [even] empty vessels; do not get a few.
3以利沙說：你去，向你眾鄰舍借空器皿，不要少借；
4'And you shall go in and shut the door behind you and your sons, and pour out into all these vessels, and you shall set aside what is full.'
4回到家裡，關上門，你和你兒子在裡面將油倒在所有的器皿裡，倒滿了的放在一邊。
5So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons; they were bringing [the vessels] to her and she poured.
5於是，婦人離開以利沙去了，關上門，自己和兒子在裡面；兒子把器皿拿來，他就倒油。
6When the vessels were full, she said to her son, 'Bring me another vessel.' And he said to her, 'There is not one vessel more.' And the oil stopped.
6器皿都滿了，他對兒子說：再給我拿器皿來。兒子說：再沒有器皿了。油就止住了。
7Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, 'Go, sell the oil and pay your debt, and you [and] your sons can live on the rest.'
7婦人去告訴神人，神人說：你去賣油還債，所剩的你和你兒子可以靠著度日。
8Now there came a day when Elisha passed over to Shunem, where there was a prominent woman, and she persuaded him to eat food. And so it was, as often as he passed by, he turned in there to eat food.
8一日，以利沙走到書念，在那裡有一個大戶的婦人強留他吃飯。此後，以利沙每從那裡經過就進去吃飯。
9She said to her husband, 'Behold now, I perceive that this is a holy man of God passing by us continually.
9婦人對丈夫說：我看出那常從我們這裡經過的是聖潔的神人。
10'Please, let us make a little walled upper chamber and let us set a bed for him there, and a table and a chair and a lampstand; and it shall be, when he comes to us, [that] he can turn in there.'
10我們可以為他在牆上蓋一間小樓，在其中安放床榻、桌子、椅子、燈臺，他來到我們這裡，就可以住在其間。
11One day he came there and turned in to the upper chamber and rested.
11一日，以利沙來到那裡，就進了那樓躺臥。
12Then he said to Gehazi his servant, 'Call this Shunammite.' And when he had called her, she stood before him.
12以利沙吩咐僕人基哈西說：你叫這書念婦人來。他就把婦人叫了來，婦人站在以利沙面前。
13He said to him, 'Say now to her, 'Behold, you have been careful for us with all this care; what can I do for you? Would you be spoken for to the king or to the captain of the army?'' And she answered, 'I live among my own people.'
13以利沙吩咐僕人說：你對他說：你既為我們費了許多心思，可以為你做甚麼呢？你向王或元帥有所求的沒有？他回答說：我在我本鄉安居無事。
14So he said, 'What then is to be done for her?' And Gehazi answered, 'Truly she has no son and her husband is old.'
14以利沙對僕人說：究竟當為他做甚麼呢？基哈西說：他沒有兒子，他丈夫也老了。
15He said, 'Call her.' When he had called her, she stood in the doorway.
15以利沙說：再叫他來。於是叫了他來，他就站在門口。
16Then he said, 'At this season next year you will embrace a son.' And she said, 'No, my lord, O man of God, do not lie to your maidservant.'
16以利沙說：明年到這時候，你必抱一個兒子。他說：神人，我主啊，不要那樣欺哄婢女。
17The woman conceived and bore a son at that season the next year, as Elisha had said to her.
17婦人果然懷孕，到了那時候，生了一個兒子，正如以利沙所說的。
18When the child was grown, the day came that he went out to his father to the reapers.
18孩子漸漸長大，一日到他父親和收割的人那裡，
19He said to his father, 'My head, my head.' And he said to his servant, 'Carry him to his mother.'
19他對父親說：我的頭啊，我的頭啊！他父親對僕人說：把他抱到他母親那裡。
20When he had taken him and brought him to his mother, he sat on her lap until noon, and [then] died.
20僕人抱去，交給他母親；孩子坐在母親的膝上，到晌午就死了。
21She went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, and shut [the door] behind him and went out.
21他母親抱他上了樓，將他放在神人的床上，關上門出來，
22Then she called to her husband and said, 'Please send me one of the servants and one of the donkeys, that I may run to the man of God and return.'
22呼叫他丈夫說：你叫一個僕人給我牽一匹驢來，我要快快地去見神人，就回來。
23He said, 'Why will you go to him today? It is neither new moon nor sabbath.' And she said, '[It will be] well.'
23丈夫說：今日不是月朔，也不是安息日，你為何要去見他呢？婦人說：平安無事。
24Then she saddled a donkey and said to her servant, 'Drive and go forward; do not slow down the pace for me unless I tell you.'
24於是備上驢，對僕人說：你快快趕著走，我若不吩咐你，就不要遲慢。
25So she went and came to the man of God to Mount Carmel. When the man of God saw her at a distance, he said to Gehazi his servant, 'Behold, there is the Shunammite.
25婦人就往迦密山去見神人。 神人遠遠地看見他，對僕人基哈西說：看哪，書念的婦人來了！
26'Please run now to meet her and say to her, 'Is it well with you? Is it well with your husband? Is it well with the child?'' And she answered, 'It is well.'
26你跑去迎接他，問他說：你平安麼？你丈夫平安麼？孩子平安麼？他說：平安。
27When she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught hold of his feet. And Gehazi came near to push her away; but the man of God said, 'Let her alone, for her soul is troubled within her; and the LORD has hidden it from me and has not told me.'
27婦人上了山，到神人那裡，就抱住神人的腳。基哈西前來要推開他， 神人說：由他罷！因為他心裡愁苦，耶和華向我隱瞞，沒有指示我。
28Then she said, 'Did I ask for a son from my lord? Did I not say, 'Do not deceive me'?'
28婦人說：我何嘗向我主求過兒子呢？我豈沒有說過，不要欺哄我麼？
29Then he said to Gehazi, 'Gird up your loins and take my staff in your hand, and go your way; if you meet any man, do not salute him, and if anyone salutes you, do not answer him; and lay my staff on the lad's face.'
29以利沙吩咐基哈西說：你束上腰，手拿我的杖前去；若遇見人，不要向他問安；人若向你問安，也不要回答；要把我的杖放在孩子臉上。
30The mother of the lad said, 'As the LORD lives and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.' And he arose and followed her.
30孩子的母親說：我指著永生的耶和華，又敢在你面前起誓，我必不離開你。於是以利沙起身，隨著他去了。
31Then Gehazi passed on before them and laid the staff on the lad's face, but there was no sound or response. So he returned to meet him and told him, 'The lad has not awakened.'
31基哈西先去，把杖放在孩子臉上，卻沒有聲音，也沒有動靜。基哈西就迎著以利沙回來，告訴他說：孩子還沒有醒過來。
32When Elisha came into the house, behold the lad was dead and laid on his bed.
32以利沙來到，進了屋子，看見孩子死了，放在自己的床上。
33So he entered and shut the door behind them both and prayed to the LORD.
33他就關上門，只有自己和孩子在裡面，他便祈禱耶和華，
34And he went up and lay on the child, and put his mouth on his mouth and his eyes on his eyes and his hands on his hands, and he stretched himself on him; and the flesh of the child became warm.
34上床伏在孩子身上，口對口，眼對眼，手對手；既伏在孩子身上，孩子的身體就漸漸溫和了。
35Then he returned and walked in the house once back and forth, and went up and stretched himself on him; and the lad sneezed seven times and the lad opened his eyes.
35然後他下來，在屋裡來往走了一趟，又上去伏在孩子身上，孩子打了七個噴嚏，就睜開眼睛了。
36He called Gehazi and said, 'Call this Shunammite.' So he called her. And when she came in to him, he said, 'Take up your son.'
36以利沙叫基哈西說：你叫這書念婦人來；於是叫了他來。以利沙說：將你兒子抱起來。
37Then she went in and fell at his feet and bowed herself to the ground, and she took up her son and went out.
37婦人就進來，在以利沙腳前俯伏於地，抱起他兒子出去了。
38When Elisha returned to Gilgal, [there was] a famine in the land. As the sons of the prophets were sitting before him, he said to his servant, 'Put on the large pot and boil stew for the sons of the prophets.'
38以利沙又來到吉甲，那地正有饑荒。先知門徒坐在他面前，他吩咐僕人說：你將大鍋放在火上，給先知門徒熬湯。
39Then one went out into the field to gather herbs, and found a wild vine and gathered from it his lap full of wild gourds, and came and sliced them into the pot of stew, for they did not know [what they were].
39有一個人去到田野掐菜，遇見一棵野瓜籐，就摘了一兜野瓜回來，切了擱在熬湯的鍋中，因為他們不知道是甚麼東西；
40So they poured [it] out for the men to eat. And as they were eating of the stew, they cried out and said, 'O man of God, there is death in the pot.' And they were unable to eat.
40倒出來給眾人吃，吃的時候，都喊叫說：神人哪，鍋中有致死的毒物！所以眾人不能吃了。
41But he said, 'Now bring meal.' He threw it into the pot and said, 'Pour [it] out for the people that they may eat.' Then there was no harm in the pot.
41以利沙說：拿點麵來，就把麵撒在鍋中，說：倒出來，給眾人吃罷！鍋中就沒有毒了。
42Now a man came from Baal-shalishah, and brought the man of God bread of the first fruits, twenty loaves of barley and fresh ears of grain in his sack. And he said, 'Give [them] to the people that they may eat.'
42有一個人從巴力沙利沙來，帶著初熟大麥做的餅二十個，並新穗子，裝在口袋裡送給神人。神人說：把這些給眾人吃。
43His attendant said, 'What, will I set this before a hundred men?' But he said, 'Give [them] to the people that they may eat, for thus says the LORD, 'They shall eat and have [some] left over.''
43僕人說：這一點豈可擺給一百人吃呢？以利沙說：你只管給眾人吃罷！因為耶和華如此說，眾人必吃了，還剩下。
44So he set [it] before them, and they ate and had [some] left over, according to the word of the LORD.
44僕人就擺在眾人面前，他們吃了，果然還剩下，正如耶和華所說的。
