1When Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she rose and destroyed all the royal offspring.
1亞哈謝的母親亞他利雅見他兒子死了，就起來剿滅王室。
2But Jehosheba, the daughter of King Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah and stole him from among the king's sons who were being put to death, and placed him and his nurse in the bedroom. So they hid him from Athaliah, and he was not put to death.
2但約蘭王的女兒，亞哈謝的妹子約示巴，將亞哈謝的兒子約阿施從那被殺的王子中偷出來，把他和他的乳母都藏在臥房裡，躲避亞他利雅，免得被殺。
3So he was hidden with her in the house of the LORD six years, while Athaliah was reigning over the land.
3約阿施和他的乳母藏在耶和華的殿裡六年；亞他利雅篡了國位。
4Now in the seventh year Jehoiada sent and brought the captains of hundreds of the Carites and of the guard, and brought them to him in the house of the LORD. Then he made a covenant with them and put them under oath in the house of the LORD, and showed them the king's son.
4第七年，耶何耶大打發人叫迦利人(或作親兵)和護衛兵的眾百夫長來，領他們進了耶和華的殿，與他們立約，使他們在耶和華殿裡起誓，又將王的兒子指給他們看，
5He commanded them, saying, 'This is the thing that you shall do: one third of you, who come in on the sabbath and keep watch over the king's house
5吩咐他們說：你們當這樣行：凡安息日進班的三分之一要看守王宮，
6(one third also [shall be] at the gate Sur, and one third at the gate behind the guards), shall keep watch over the house for defense.
6三分之一要在蘇珥門，三分之一要在護衛兵院的後門。這樣把守王宮，攔阻閒人。
7'Two parts of you, [even] all who go out on the sabbath, shall also keep watch over the house of the LORD for the king.
7你們安息日所有出班的三分之二要在耶和華的殿裡護衛王；
8'Then you shall surround the king, each with his weapons in his hand; and whoever comes within the ranks shall be put to death. And be with the king when he goes out and when he comes in.'
8各人手拿兵器，四圍護衛王。凡擅入你們班次的必當治死，王出入的時候，你們當跟隨他。
9So the captains of hundreds did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded. And each one of them took his men who were to come in on the sabbath, with those who were to go out on the sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest.
9眾百夫長就照著祭司耶何耶大一切所吩咐的去行，各帶所管安息日進班出班的人來見祭司耶何耶大。
10The priest gave to the captains of hundreds the spears and shields that [had been] King David's, which [were] in the house of the LORD.
10祭司便將耶和華殿裡所藏大衛王的槍和盾牌交給百夫長。
11The guards stood each with his weapons in his hand, from the right side of the house to the left side of the house, by the altar and by the house, around the king.
11護衛兵手中各拿兵器，在壇和殿那裡，從殿右直到殿左，站在王子的四圍。
12Then he brought the king's son out and put the crown on him and [gave him] the testimony; and they made him king and anointed him, and they clapped their hands and said, '[Long] live the king!'
12祭司領王子出來，給他戴上冠冕，將律法書交給他，膏他作王；眾人就拍掌說：願王萬歲！
13When Athaliah heard the noise of the guard [and of] the people, she came to the people in the house of the LORD.
13亞他利雅聽見護衛兵和民的聲音，就到民那裡，進耶和華的殿，
14She looked and behold, the king was standing by the pillar, according to the custom, with the captains and the trumpeters beside the king; and all the people of the land rejoiced and blew trumpets. Then Athaliah tore her clothes and cried, 'Treason! Treason!'
14看見王照例站在柱旁，百夫長和吹號的人侍立在王左右，國中的眾民歡樂吹號；亞他利雅就撕裂衣服，喊叫說：反了！反了！
15And Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of hundreds who were appointed over the army and said to them, 'Bring her out between the ranks, and whoever follows her put to death with the sword.' For the priest said, 'Let her not be put to death in the house of the LORD.'
15祭司耶何耶大吩咐管轄軍兵的百夫長說：將他趕出班外，凡跟隨他的必用刀殺死！因為祭司說不可在耶和華殿裡殺他，
16So they seized her, and when she arrived at the horses' entrance of the king's house, she was put to death there.
16眾兵就閃開讓他去；他從馬路上王宮去，便在那裡被殺。
17Then Jehoiada made a covenant between the LORD and the king and the people, that they would be the LORD'S people, also between the king and the people.
17耶何耶大使王和民與耶和華立約，作耶和華的民；又使王與民立約。
18All the people of the land went to the house of Baal, and tore it down; his altars and his images they broke in pieces thoroughly, and killed Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the LORD.
18於是國民都到巴力廟，拆毀了廟，打碎壇和像，又在壇前將巴力的祭司瑪坦殺了。祭司耶何耶大派官看守耶和華的殿，
19He took the captains of hundreds and the Carites and the guards and all the people of the land; and they brought the king down from the house of the LORD, and came by the way of the gate of the guards to the king's house. And he sat on the throne of the kings.
19又率領百夫長和迦利人(或作親兵)與護衛兵，以及國中的眾民，請王從耶和華殿下來，由護衛兵的門進入王宮，他就坐了王位。
20So all the people of the land rejoiced and the city was quiet. For they had put Athaliah to death with the sword at the king's house.
20國民都歡樂，閤城都安靜。眾人已將亞他利雅在王宮那裡用刀殺了。
21Jehoash was seven years old when he became king.
21約阿施登基的時候年方七歲。
