1Now Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab, 'As the LORD, the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, surely there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word.'
1基列寄居的提斯比人以利亞對亞哈說：我指著所事奉永生耶和華─以色列的神起誓，這幾年我若不禱告，必不降露，不下雨。
2The word of the LORD came to him, saying,
2耶和華的話臨到以利亞說：
3'Go away from here and turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan.
3你離開這裡往東去，藏在約但河東邊的基立溪旁。
4'It shall be that you will drink of the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to provide for you there.'
4你要喝那溪裡的水，我已吩咐烏鴉在那裡供養你。
5So he went and did according to the word of the LORD, for he went and lived by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan.
5於是以利亞照著耶和華的話，去住在約但河東的基立溪旁。
6The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he would drink from the brook.
6烏鴉早晚給他叼餅和肉來，他也喝那溪裡的水。
7It happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.
7過了些日子，溪水就乾了，因為雨沒有下在地上。
8Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying,
8耶和華的話臨到他說：
9'Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there; behold, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.'
9你起身往西頓的撒勒法(撒勒法與路四26同)去，住在那裡；我已吩咐那裡的一個寡婦供養你。
10So he arose and went to Zarephath, and when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks; and he called to her and said, 'Please get me a little water in a jar, that I may drink.'
10以利亞就起身往撒勒法去。到了城門，見有一個寡婦在那裡撿柴，以利亞呼叫他說：求你用器皿取點水來給我喝。
11As she was going to get [it], he called to her and said, 'Please bring me a piece of bread in your hand.'
11他去取水的時候，以利亞又呼叫他說：也求你拿點餅來給我！
12But she said, 'As the LORD your God lives, I have no bread, only a handful of flour in the bowl and a little oil in the jar; and behold, I am gathering a few sticks that I may go in and prepare for me and my son, that we may eat it and die.'
12他說：我指著永生耶和華─你的神起誓，我沒有餅，罈內只有一把麵，瓶裡只有一點油；我現在找兩根柴，回家要為我和我兒子做餅；我們吃了，死就死罷！
13Then Elijah said to her, 'Do not fear; go, do as you have said, but make me a little bread cake from it first and bring [it] out to me, and afterward you may make [one] for yourself and for your son.
13以利亞對他說：不要懼怕！可以照你所說的去做罷！只要先為我做一個小餅拿來給我，然後為你和你的兒子做餅。
14'For thus says the LORD God of Israel, 'The bowl of flour shall not be exhausted, nor shall the jar of oil be empty, until the day that the LORD sends rain on the face of the earth.''
14因為耶和華─以色列的神如此說：罈內的麵必不減少，瓶裡的油必不缺短，直到耶和華使雨降在地上的日子。
15So she went and did according to the word of Elijah, and she and he and her household ate for [many] days.
15婦人就照以利亞的話去行。他和他家中的人，並以利亞，吃了許多日子。
16The bowl of flour was not exhausted nor did the jar of oil become empty, according to the word of the LORD which He spoke through Elijah.
16罈內的麵果不減少，瓶裡的油也不缺短，正如耶和華藉以利亞所說的話。
17Now it came about after these things that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, became sick; and his sickness was so severe that there was no breath left in him.
17這事以後，作那家主母的婦人，他兒子病了；病得甚重，以致身無氣息。
18So she said to Elijah, 'What do I have to do with you, O man of God? You have come to me to bring my iniquity to remembrance and to put my son to death!'
18婦人對以利亞說：神人哪，我與你何干？你竟到我這裡來，使神想念我的罪，以致我的兒子死呢？
19He said to her, 'Give me your son.' Then he took him from her bosom and carried him up to the upper room where he was living, and laid him on his own bed.
19以利亞對他說：把你兒子交給我。以利亞就從婦人懷中將孩子接過來，抱到他所住的樓中，放在自己的床上，
20He called to the LORD and said, 'O LORD my God, have You also brought calamity to the widow with whom I am staying, by causing her son to die?'
20就求告耶和華說：耶和華─我的神啊，我寄居在這寡婦的家裡，你就降禍與他，使他的兒子死了麼？
21Then he stretched himself upon the child three times, and called to the LORD and said, 'O LORD my God, I pray You, let this child's life return to him.'
21以利亞三次伏在孩子的身上，求告耶和華說：耶和華─我的神啊，求你使這孩子的靈魂仍入他的身體！
22The LORD heard the voice of Elijah, and the life of the child returned to him and he revived.
22耶和華應允以利亞的話，孩子的靈魂仍入他的身體，他就活了。
23Elijah took the child and brought him down from the upper room into the house and gave him to his mother; and Elijah said, 'See, your son is alive.'
23以利亞將孩子從樓上抱下來，進屋子交給他母親，說：看哪，你的兒子活了！
24Then the woman said to Elijah, 'Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD in your mouth is truth.'
24婦人對以利亞說：現在我知道你是神人，耶和華藉你口所說的話是真的。
