1Then David said, 'This is the house of the LORD God, and this is the altar of burnt offering for Israel.'
1大衛說：這就是耶和華神的殿，為以色列人獻燔祭的壇。
2So David gave orders to gather the foreigners who were in the land of Israel, and he set stonecutters to hew out stones to build the house of God.
2大衛吩咐聚集住以色列地的外邦人，從其中派石匠鑿石頭，要建造神的殿。
3David prepared large quantities of iron to make the nails for the doors of the gates and for the clamps, and more bronze than could be weighed;
3大衛預備許多鐵做門上的釘子和鉤子，又預備許多銅，多得無法可稱；
4and timbers of cedar logs beyond number, for the Sidonians and Tyrians brought large quantities of cedar timber to David.
4又預備無數的香柏木，因為西頓人和推羅人給大衛運了許多香柏木來。
5David said, 'My son Solomon is young and inexperienced, and the house that is to be built for the LORD shall be exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious throughout all lands. [Therefore] now I will make preparation for it.' So David made ample preparations before his death.
5大衛說：我兒子所羅門還年幼嬌嫩，要為耶和華建造的殿宇必須高大輝煌，使名譽榮耀傳遍萬國；所以我要為殿預備材料。於是，大衛在未死之先預備的材料甚多。
6Then he called for his son Solomon, and charged him to build a house for the LORD God of Israel.
6大衛召了他兒子所羅門來，囑咐他給耶和華─以色列的神建造殿宇，
7David said to Solomon, 'My son, I had intended to build a house to the name of the LORD my God.
7對所羅門說：我兒啊，我心裡本想為耶和華─我神的名建造殿宇，
8'But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 'You have shed much blood and have waged great wars; you shall not build a house to My name, because you have shed [so] much blood on the earth before Me.
8只是耶和華的話臨到我說：你流了多人的血，打了多次大仗，你不可為我的名建造殿宇，因為你在我眼前使多人的血流在地上。
9'Behold, a son will be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side; for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quiet to Israel in his days.
9你要生一個兒子，他必作太平的人；我必使他安靜，不被四圍的仇敵擾亂。他的名要叫所羅門(即太平之意)。他在位的日子，我必使以色列人平安康泰。
10'He shall build a house for My name, and he shall be My son and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.'
10他必為我的名建造殿宇。他要作我的子；我要作他的父。他作以色列王；我必堅定他的國位，直到永遠。
11'Now, my son, the LORD be with you that you may be successful, and build the house of the LORD your God just as He has spoken concerning you.
11我兒啊，現今願耶和華與你同在，使你亨通，照他指著你說的話，建造耶和華─你神的殿。
12'Only the LORD give you discretion and understanding, and give you charge over Israel, so that you may keep the law of the LORD your God.
12但願耶和華賜你聰明智慧，好治理以色列國，遵行耶和華─你神的律法。
13'Then you will prosper, if you are careful to observe the statutes and the ordinances which the LORD commanded Moses concerning Israel. Be strong and courageous, do not fear nor be dismayed.
13你若謹守遵行耶和華藉摩西吩咐以色列的律例典章，就得亨通。你當剛強壯膽，不要懼怕，也不要驚惶。
14'Now behold, with great pains I have prepared for the house of the LORD 100,000 talents of gold and 1,000,000 talents of silver, and bronze and iron beyond weight, for they are in great quantity; also timber and stone I have prepared, and you may add to them.
14我在困難之中為耶和華的殿預備了金子十萬他連得，銀子一百萬他連得，銅和鐵多得無法可稱；我也預備了木頭、石頭，你還可以增添。
15'Moreover, there are many workmen with you, stonecutters and masons of stone and carpenters, and all men who are skillful in every kind of work.
15你有許多匠人，就是石匠、木匠，和一切能做各樣工的巧匠，
16'Of the gold, the silver and the bronze and the iron there is no limit. Arise and work, and may the LORD be with you.'
16並有無數的金銀銅鐵。你當起來辦事，願耶和華與你同在。
17David also commanded all the leaders of Israel to help his son Solomon, [saying],
17大衛又吩咐以色列的眾首領幫助他兒子所羅門，說：
18'Is not the LORD your God with you? And has He not given you rest on every side? For He has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land is subdued before the LORD and before His people.
18耶和華─你們的神不是與你們同在麼？不是叫你們四圍都平安麼？因他已將這地的居民交在我手中，這地就在耶和華與他百姓面前制伏了。
19'Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise, therefore, and build the sanctuary of the LORD God, so that you may bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD and the holy vessels of God into the house that is to be built for the name of the LORD.'
19現在你們應當立定心意，尋求耶和華─你們的神；也當起來建造耶和華 神的聖所，好將耶和華的約櫃和供奉 神的聖器皿都搬進為耶和華名建造的殿裡。
