1Now after Abimelech died, Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar, arose to save Israel; and he lived in Shamir in the hill country of Ephraim.
1亞比米勒以後，有以薩迦人朵多的孫子、普瓦的兒子陀拉興起，拯救以色列人。他住在以法蓮山地的沙密。
2He judged Israel twenty-three years. Then he died and was buried in Shamir.
2陀拉作以色列的士師二十三年，就死了，葬在沙密。
3After him, Jair the Gileadite arose and judged Israel twenty-two years.
3在他以後有基列人睚珥興起，作以色列的士師二十二年。
4He had thirty sons who rode on thirty donkeys, and they had thirty cities in the land of Gilead that are called Havvoth-jair to this day.
4他有三十個兒子，騎著三十匹驢駒。他們有三十座城邑，叫作哈倭特睚珥，直到如今，都是在基列地。
5And Jair died and was buried in Kamon.
5睚珥死了，就葬在加們。
6Then the sons of Israel again did evil in the sight of the LORD, served the Baals and the Ashtaroth, the gods of Aram, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the sons of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines; thus they forsook the LORD and did not serve Him.
6以色列人又行耶和華眼中看為惡的事，去事奉諸巴力和亞斯他錄，並亞蘭的神、西頓的 神、摩押的 神、亞捫人的 神、非利士人的 神，離棄耶和華，不事奉他。
7The anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He sold them into the hands of the Philistines and into the hands of the sons of Ammon.
7耶和華的怒氣向以色列人發作，就把他們交在非利士人和亞捫人的手中。
8They afflicted and crushed the sons of Israel that year; for eighteen years they [afflicted] all the sons of Israel who were beyond the Jordan in Gilead in the land of the Amorites.
8從那年起，他們擾害欺壓約但河那邊、住亞摩利人之基列地的以色列人，共有十八年。
9The sons of Ammon crossed the Jordan to fight also against Judah, Benjamin, and the house of Ephraim, so that Israel was greatly distressed.
9亞捫人又渡過約但河去攻打猶大和便雅憫，並以法蓮族。以色列人就甚覺窘迫。
10Then the sons of Israel cried out to the LORD, saying, 'We have sinned against You, for indeed, we have forsaken our God and served the Baals.'
10以色列人哀求耶和華說：我們得罪了你；因為離棄了我們神，去事奉諸巴力。
11The LORD said to the sons of Israel, '[Did I] not [deliver you] from the Egyptians, the Amorites, the sons of Ammon, and the Philistines?
11耶和華對以色列人說：我豈沒有救過你們脫離埃及人、亞摩利人、亞捫人，和非利士人麼？
12'Also when the Sidonians, the Amalekites and the Maonites oppressed you, you cried out to Me, and I delivered you from their hands.
12西頓人、亞瑪力人、馬雲人也都欺壓你們；你們哀求我，我也拯救你們脫離他們的手。
13'Yet you have forsaken Me and served other gods; therefore I will no longer deliver you.
13你們竟離棄我，事奉別神！所以我不再救你們了。
14'Go and cry out to the gods which you have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your distress.'
14你們去哀求所選擇的神；你們遭遇急難的時候，讓他救你們罷！
15The sons of Israel said to the LORD, 'We have sinned, do to us whatever seems good to You; only please deliver us this day.'
15以色列人對耶和華說：我們犯罪了，任憑你隨意待我們罷！只求你今日拯救我們。
16So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the LORD; and He could bear the misery of Israel no longer.
16以色列人就除掉他們中間的外邦神，事奉耶和華。耶和華因以色列人受的苦難，就心中擔憂。
17Then the sons of Ammon were summoned and they camped in Gilead. And the sons of Israel gathered together and camped in Mizpah.
17當時亞捫人聚集，安營在基列。以色列人也聚集，安營在米斯巴。
18The people, the leaders of Gilead, said to one another, 'Who is the man who will begin to fight against the sons of Ammon? He shall become head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.'
18基列的民和眾首領彼此商議說：誰能先去攻打亞捫人，誰必作基列一切居民的領袖。
