1Now it came about when Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem heard that Joshua had captured Ai, and had utterly destroyed it (just as he had done to Jericho and its king, so he had done to Ai and its king), and that the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel and were within their land,
1耶路撒冷王亞多尼洗德聽見約書亞奪了艾城，盡行毀滅，怎樣待耶利哥和耶利哥的王，也照樣待艾城和艾城的王，又聽見基遍的居民與以色列人立了和約，住在他們中間，
2that he feared greatly, because Gibeon [was] a great city, like one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all its men [were] mighty.
2就甚懼怕；因為基遍是一座大城，如都城一般，比艾城更大，並且城內的人都是勇士。
3Therefore Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem sent [word] to Hoham king of Hebron and to Piram king of Jarmuth and to Japhia king of Lachish and to Debir king of Eglon, saying,
3所以耶路撒冷王亞多尼洗德打發人去見希伯崙王何咸、耶末王毘蘭、拉吉王雅非亞，和伊磯倫王底璧，說：
4'Come up to me and help me, and let us attack Gibeon, for it has made peace with Joshua and with the sons of Israel.'
4求你們上來幫助我，我們好攻打基遍，因為他們與約書亞和以色列人立了和約。
5So the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, [and] the king of Eglon, gathered together and went up, they with all their armies, and camped by Gibeon and fought against it.
5於是五個亞摩利王，就是耶路撒冷王、希伯崙王、耶末王、拉吉王、伊磯倫王，大家聚集，率領他們的眾軍上去，對著基遍安營，攻打基遍。
6Then the men of Gibeon sent [word] to Joshua to the camp at Gilgal, saying, 'Do not abandon your servants; come up to us quickly and save us and help us, for all the kings of the Amorites that live in the hill country have assembled against us.'
6基遍人就打發人往吉甲的營中去見約書亞，說：你不要袖手不顧你的僕人，求你速速上來拯救我們，幫助我們，因為住山地亞摩利人的諸王都聚集攻擊我們。
7So Joshua went up from Gilgal, he and all the people of war with him and all the valiant warriors.
7於是約書亞和他一切兵丁，並大能的勇士，都從吉甲上去。
8The LORD said to Joshua, 'Do not fear them, for I have given them into your hands; not one of them shall stand before you.'
8耶和華對約書亞說：不要怕他們；因為我已將他們交在你手裡，他們無一人能在你面前站立得住。
9So Joshua came upon them suddenly by marching all night from Gilgal.
9約書亞就終夜從吉甲上去，猛然臨到他們那裡。
10And the LORD confounded them before Israel, and He slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and pursued them by the way of the ascent of Beth-horon and struck them as far as Azekah and Makkedah.
10耶和華使他們在以色列人面前潰亂。約書亞在基遍大大的殺敗他們，追趕他們，在伯和崙的上坡路擊殺他們，直到亞西加和瑪基大。
11As they fled from before Israel, [while] they were at the descent of Beth-horon, the LORD threw large stones from heaven on them as far as Azekah, and they died; [there were] more who died from the hailstones than those whom the sons of Israel killed with the sword.
11他們在以色列人面前逃跑，正在伯和崙下坡的時候，耶和華從天上降大冰雹在他們身上，（冰雹原文作石頭）直降到亞西加，打死他們。被冰雹打死的，比以色列人用刀殺死的還多。
12Then Joshua spoke to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the sons of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, 'O sun, stand still at Gibeon, And O moon in the valley of Aijalon.'
12當耶和華將亞摩利人交付以色列人的日子，約書亞就禱告耶和華，在以色列人眼前說：日頭阿，你要停在基遍；月亮阿，你要止在亞雅崙谷。
13So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, Until the nation avenged themselves of their enemies. Is it not written in the book of Jashar? And the sun stopped in the middle of the sky and did not hasten to go [down] for about a whole day.
13於是日頭停留，月亮止住，直等國民向敵人報仇。這事豈不是寫在雅煞珥書上麼？日頭在天當中停住，不急速下落，約有一日之久。
14There was no day like that before it or after it, when the LORD listened to the voice of a man; for the LORD fought for Israel.
14在這日以前，這日以後，耶和華聽人的禱告，沒有像這日的，是因耶和華為以色列爭戰。
15Then Joshua and all Israel with him returned to the camp to Gilgal.
15約書亞和以色列眾人回到吉甲的營中。
16Now these five kings had fled and hidden themselves in the cave at Makkedah.
16那五王逃跑，藏在瑪基大洞裡。
17It was told Joshua, saying, 'The five kings have been found hidden in the cave at Makkedah.'
17有人告訴約書亞說：那五王已經找到了，都藏在瑪基大洞裡。
18Joshua said, 'Roll large stones against the mouth of the cave, and assign men by it to guard them,
18約書亞說：你們把幾塊大石頭輥到洞口，派人看守，
19but do not stay [there] yourselves; pursue your enemies and attack them in the rear. Do not allow them to enter their cities, for the LORD your God has delivered them into your hand.'
19你們卻不可耽延，要追趕你們的仇敵，擊殺他們儘後邊的人，不容他們進自己的城邑，因為耶和華─你們的神已經把他們交在你們手裡。
20It came about when Joshua and the sons of Israel had finished slaying them with a very great slaughter, until they were destroyed, and the survivors [who] remained of them had entered the fortified cities,
20約書亞和以色列人大大殺敗他們，直到將他們滅盡；其中剩下的人都進了堅固的城。
21that all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace. No one uttered a word against any of the sons of Israel.
21眾百姓就安然回瑪基大營中，到約書亞那裡。沒有一人敢向以色列人饒舌。
22Then Joshua said, 'Open the mouth of the cave and bring these five kings out to me from the cave.'
22約書亞說：打開洞口，將那五王從洞裡帶出來，領到我面前。
23They did so, and brought these five kings out to him from the cave: the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, [and] the king of Eglon.
23眾人就這樣行，將那五王，就是耶路撒冷王、希伯崙王、耶末王、拉吉王、伊磯倫王，從洞裡帶出來，領到約書亞面前。
24When they brought these kings out to Joshua, Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said to the chiefs of the men of war who had gone with him, 'Come near, put your feet on the necks of these kings.' So they came near and put their feet on their necks.
24帶出那五王到約書亞面前的時候，約書亞就召了以色列眾人來，對那些和他同去的軍長說：你們近前來，把腳踏在這些王的頸項上。他們就近前來，把腳踏在這些王的頸項上。
25Joshua then said to them, 'Do not fear or be dismayed! Be strong and courageous, for thus the LORD will do to all your enemies with whom you fight.'
25約書亞對他們說：你們不要懼怕，也不要驚惶。應當剛強壯膽，因為耶和華必這樣待你們所要攻打的一切仇敵。
26So afterward Joshua struck them and put them to death, and he hanged them on five trees; and they hung on the trees until evening.
26隨後約書亞將這五王殺死，掛在五棵樹上。他們就在樹上直掛到晚上。
27It came about at sunset that Joshua gave a command, and they took them down from the trees and threw them into the cave where they had hidden themselves, and put large stones over the mouth of the cave, to this very day.
27日頭要落的時候，約書亞一吩咐，人就把屍首從樹上取下來，丟在他們藏過的洞裡，把幾塊大石頭放在洞口，直存到今日。
28Now Joshua captured Makkedah on that day, and struck it and its king with the edge of the sword; he utterly destroyed it and every person who was in it. He left no survivor. Thus he did to the king of Makkedah just as he had done to the king of Jericho.
28當日，約書亞奪了瑪基大，用刀擊殺城中的人和王；將其中一切人口盡行殺滅，沒有留下一個。他待瑪基大王，像從前待耶利哥王一樣。
29Then Joshua and all Israel with him passed on from Makkedah to Libnah, and fought against Libnah.
29約書亞和以色列眾人從瑪基大往立拿去，攻打立拿。
30The LORD gave it also with its king into the hands of Israel, and he struck it and every person who [was] in it with the edge of the sword. He left no survivor in it. Thus he did to its king just as he had done to the king of Jericho.
30耶和華將立拿和立拿的王也交在以色列人手裡。約書亞攻打這城，用刀擊殺了城中的一切人口，沒有留下一個。他待立拿王，像從前待耶利哥王一樣。
31And Joshua and all Israel with him passed on from Libnah to Lachish, and they camped by it and fought against it.
31約書亞和以色列眾人從立拿往拉吉去，對著拉吉安營，攻打這城。
32The LORD gave Lachish into the hands of Israel; and he captured it on the second day, and struck it and every person who [was] in it with the edge of the sword, according to all that he had done to Libnah.
32耶和華將拉吉交在以色列人的手裡。第二天約書亞就奪了拉吉，用刀擊殺了城中的一切人口，是照他向立拿一切所行的。
33Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish, and Joshua defeated him and his people until he had left him no survivor.
33那時基色王荷蘭上來幫助拉吉，約書亞就把他和他的民都擊殺了，沒有留下一個。
34And Joshua and all Israel with him passed on from Lachish to Eglon, and they camped by it and fought against it.
34約書亞和以色列眾人從拉吉往伊磯倫去，對著伊磯倫安營，攻打這城。
35They captured it on that day and struck it with the edge of the sword; and he utterly destroyed that day every person who [was] in it, according to all that he had done to Lachish.
35當日就奪了城，用刀擊殺了城中的人。那日，約書亞將城中的一切人口盡行殺滅，是照他向拉吉一切所行的。
36Then Joshua and all Israel with him went up from Eglon to Hebron, and they fought against it.
36約書亞和以色列眾人從伊磯倫上希伯崙去，攻打這城，
37They captured it and struck it and its king and all its cities and all the persons who [were] in it with the edge of the sword. He left no survivor, according to all that he had done to Eglon. And he utterly destroyed it and every person who [was] in it.
37就奪了希伯崙和屬希伯崙的諸城邑，用刀將城中的人與王，並那些城邑中的人口，都擊殺了，沒有留下一個，是照他向伊磯倫所行的，把城中的一切人口盡行殺滅。
38Then Joshua and all Israel with him returned to Debir, and they fought against it.
38約書亞和以色列眾人回到底璧，攻打這城，
39He captured it and its king and all its cities, and they struck them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed every person [who was] in it. He left no survivor. Just as he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir and its king, as he had also done to Libnah and its king.
39就奪了底璧和屬底璧的城邑，又擒獲底璧的王，用刀將這些城中的人口盡行殺滅，沒有留下一個。他待底璧和底璧王，像從前待希伯崙和立拿與立拿王一樣。
40Thus Joshua struck all the land, the hill country and the Negev and the lowland and the slopes and all their kings. He left no survivor, but he utterly destroyed all who breathed, just as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded.
40這樣，約書亞擊殺全地的人，就是山地、南地、高原、山坡的人，和那些地的諸王，沒有留下一個。將凡有氣息的盡行殺滅，正如耶和華─以色列的神所吩咐的。
41Joshua struck them from Kadesh-barnea even as far as Gaza, and all the country of Goshen even as far as Gibeon.
41約書亞從加低斯巴尼亞攻擊到迦薩，又攻擊歌珊全地，直到基遍。
42Joshua captured all these kings and their lands at one time, because the LORD, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.
42約書亞一時殺敗了這些王，並奪了他們的地，因為耶和華─以色列的神為以色列爭戰。
43So Joshua and all Israel with him returned to the camp at Gilgal.
43於是約書亞和以色列眾人回到吉甲的營中。
