1In the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
1猶大王約西亞的兒子約雅敬第四年，耶和華的話臨到耶利米說：
2'Take a scroll and write on it all the words which I have spoken to you concerning Israel and concerning Judah, and concerning all the nations, from the day I [first] spoke to you, from the days of Josiah, even to this day.
2你取一書卷，將我對你說攻擊以色列和猶大，並各國的一切話，從我對你說話的那日，就是從約西亞的日子起直到今日，都寫在其上。
3'Perhaps the house of Judah will hear all the calamity which I plan to bring on them, in order that every man will turn from his evil way; then I will forgive their iniquity and their sin.'
3或者猶大家聽見我想要降與他們的一切災禍，各人就回頭，離開惡道，我好赦免他們的罪孽和罪惡。
4Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah, and Baruch wrote on a scroll at the dictation of Jeremiah all the words of the LORD which He had spoken to him.
4所以，耶利米召了尼利亞的兒子巴錄來；巴錄就從耶利米口中，將耶和華對耶利米所說的一切話寫在書卷上。
5Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, 'I am restricted; I cannot go into the house of the LORD.
5耶利米吩咐巴錄說：我被拘管，不能進耶和華的殿。
6'So you go and read from the scroll which you have written at my dictation the words of the LORD to the people in the LORD'S house on a fast day. And also you shall read them to all [the people of] Judah who come from their cities.
6所以你要去趁禁食的日子，在耶和華殿中將耶和華的話，就是你從我口中所寫在書卷上的話，念給百姓和一切從猶大城邑出來的人聽。
7'Perhaps their supplication will come before the LORD, and everyone will turn from his evil way, for great is the anger and the wrath that the LORD has pronounced against this people.'
7或者他們在耶和華面前懇求各人回頭，離開惡道，因為耶和華向這百姓所說要發的怒氣和忿怒是大的。
8Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading from the book the words of the LORD in the LORD'S house.
8尼利亞的兒子巴錄就照先知耶利米一切所吩咐的去行，在耶和華的殿中從書上念耶和華的話。
9Now in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, all the people in Jerusalem and all the people who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem proclaimed a fast before the LORD.
9猶大王約西亞的兒子約雅敬第五年九月，耶路撒冷的眾民和那從猶大城邑來到耶路撒冷的眾民，在耶和華面前宣告禁食的日子，
10Then Baruch read from the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of the LORD in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the upper court, at the entry of the New Gate of the LORD'S house, to all the people.
10巴錄就在耶和華殿的上院，耶和華殿的新門口，沙番的兒子文士基瑪利雅的屋內，念書上耶利米的話給眾民聽。
11Now when Micaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard all the words of the LORD from the book,
11沙番的孫子、基瑪利雅的兒子米該亞聽見書上耶和華的一切話，
12he went down to the king's house, into the scribe's chamber. And behold, all the officials were sitting there-- Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the son of Achbor, and Gemariah the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the [other] officials.
12他就下到王宮，進入文士的屋子。眾首領，就是文士以利沙瑪、示瑪雅的兒子第萊雅、亞革波的兒子以利拿單、沙番的兒子基瑪利雅、哈拿尼雅的兒子西底家，和其餘的首領都坐在那裡。
13Micaiah declared to them all the words that he had heard when Baruch read from the book to the people.
13於是米該亞對他們述說他所聽見的一切話，就是巴錄向百姓念那書的時候所聽見的。
14Then all the officials sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying, 'Take in your hand the scroll from which you have read to the people and come.' So Baruch the son of Neriah took the scroll in his hand and went to them.
14眾首領就打發古示的曾孫、示利米雅的孫子、尼探雅的兒子猶底到巴錄那裡，對他說：你將所念給百姓聽的書卷拿在手中到我們這裡來。尼利亞的兒子巴錄就手拿書卷來到他們那裡。
15They said to him, 'Sit down, please, and read it to us.' So Baruch read it to them.
15他們對他說：請你坐下，念給我們聽。巴錄就念給他們聽。
16When they had heard all the words, they turned in fear one to another and said to Baruch, 'We will surely report all these words to the king.'
16他們聽見這一切話就害怕，面面相觀，對巴錄說：我們必須將這一切話告訴王。
17And they asked Baruch, saying, 'Tell us, please, how did you write all these words? [Was it] at his dictation?'
17他們問巴錄說：請你告訴我們，你怎樣從他口中寫這一切話呢？
18Then Baruch said to them, 'He dictated all these words to me, and I wrote them with ink on the book.'
18巴錄回答說：他用口向我說這一切話，我就用筆墨寫在書上。
19Then the officials said to Baruch, 'Go, hide yourself, you and Jeremiah, and do not let anyone know where you are.'
19眾首領對巴錄說：你和耶利米要去藏起來，不可叫人知道你們在哪裡。
20So they went to the king in the court, but they had deposited the scroll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and they reported all the words to the king.
20眾首領進院見王，卻先把書卷存在文士以利沙瑪的屋內，以後將這一切話說給王聽。
21Then the king sent Jehudi to get the scroll, and he took it out of the chamber of Elishama the scribe. And Jehudi read it to the king as well as to all the officials who stood beside the king.
21王就打發猶底去拿這書卷來，他便從文士以利沙瑪的屋內取來，念給王和王左右侍立的眾首領聽。
22Now the king was sitting in the winter house in the ninth month, with [a fire] burning in the brazier before him.
22那時正是九月，王坐在過冬的房屋裡，王的前面火盆中有燒著的火。
23When Jehudi had read three or four columns, [the king] cut it with a scribe's knife and threw [it] into the fire that was in the brazier, until all the scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the brazier.
23猶底念了三四篇（或譯：行），王就用文士的刀將書卷割破，扔在火盆中，直到全卷在火中燒盡了。
24Yet the king and all his servants who heard all these words were not afraid, nor did they rend their garments.
24王和聽見這一切話的臣僕都不懼怕，也不撕裂衣服。
25Even though Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah pleaded with the king not to burn the scroll, he would not listen to them.
25以利拿單和第萊雅，並基瑪利雅懇求王不要燒這書卷，他卻不聽。
26And the king commanded Jerahmeel the king's son, Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel to seize Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet, but the LORD hid them.
26王就吩咐哈米勒的兒子（或譯：王的兒子）耶拉篾和亞斯列的兒子西萊雅，並亞伯疊的兒子示利米雅，去捉拿文士巴錄和先知耶利米。耶和華卻將他們隱藏。
27Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah after the king had burned the scroll and the words which Baruch had written at the dictation of Jeremiah, saying,
27王燒了書卷（其上有巴錄從耶利米口中所寫的話）以後，耶和華的話臨到耶利米說：
28'Take again another scroll and write on it all the former words that were on the first scroll which Jehoiakim the king of Judah burned.
28你再取一卷，將猶大王約雅敬所燒第一卷上的一切話寫在其上。
29'And concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah you shall say, 'Thus says the LORD, 'You have burned this scroll, saying, 'Why have you written on it that the king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land, and will make man and beast to cease from it?''
29論到猶大王約雅敬你要說，耶和華如此說：你燒了書卷，說：你為甚麼在其上寫著，說巴比倫王必要來毀滅這地，使這地上絕了人民牲畜呢？
30'Therefore thus says the LORD concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah, 'He shall have no one to sit on the throne of David, and his dead body shall be cast out to the heat of the day and the frost of the night.
30所以耶和華論到猶大王約雅敬說：他後裔中必沒有人坐在大衛的寶座上；他的屍首必被拋棄，白日受炎熱，黑夜受寒霜。
31'I will also punish him and his descendants and his servants for their iniquity, and I will bring on them and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and the men of Judah all the calamity that I have declared to them-- but they did not listen.'''
31我必因他和他後裔，並他臣僕的罪孽刑罰他們。我要使我所說的一切災禍臨到他們和耶路撒冷的居民，並猶大人；只是他們不聽。
32Then Jeremiah took another scroll and gave it to Baruch the son of Neriah, the scribe, and he wrote on it at the dictation of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire; and many similar words were added to them.
32於是，耶利米又取一書卷交給尼利亞的兒子文士巴錄，他就從耶利米的口中寫了猶大王約雅敬所燒前卷上的一切話，另外又添了許多相彷的話。
